So I am going to build a 10/22. Sillouette laminated stock, heavy barrel, VQ trigger group blah blah blah etc. Yes another one of those.

Now that we have that out of the way I just took the plunge and ordered some glass for it.

Anyway I don't know a lot about scopes so it came down to a Burris and the Sightron. I have had good luck with Burris scopes and really like them. I originally didn't want to spend more than say $180.00 but I really wanted an adjustable objective since I would like to do some 100 yard shooting as well as 50 and don't want to worry about paralax.

I did a little research and found that Sightron seems to have a very good rep and people seem to put it in the same class as Leupold....GASP :what: I heard mentioned somewhere that either Leupold may make the glass for them or visa versa but I digress.

So I ordered a Sightron S2 3-9x36 AO Rimfire for $226. It is a little more than I wanted to spend but I figure it should give me a lot more versatility and everywhere I read glowing reviews of Sightron products. For the price I was seriously considering a Leupold rimfire scope as well but couldn't get over the small 28mm objective I want to be able to gather as much light as possible, my vision isn't that great to begin with. I belive the Leupold was a 2-7x28 and in the low $200ish range.

So does this sound like a solid Rimfire scope choice. Did I get ripped on the cost, even if I did I don't care as long as I like the scope.

Anyway I come to the alter of scopes seeking knowledge and approval. :neener:

Ohhh, I am going to keep my stainless 10/22 stock though just so I can keep alive a vanishing breed, the bone stock 10/22. Besides I am curious to see how the two compare to each other when finished.

Sound like fun. I'm very pleased with my Sightron. I have one on my M1a, and it's pretty darn bright and clear. My best scope is a Leupold, buy very close behind are my Weaver Grand Slam and my Sightron. I'm sure you'll like yours.

I'd also get a VQ extractor. I replace all my Ruger rimfire extractors w/ the VQ.

I've talked to a couple people who love that particular model. Let us know how it goes.

Can't speak to your specific model but I put an SI39RF on a CZ 452 American and I think it is a great scope. The CZ is a hunting rig so I didn't need the AO. But I liked the SI so much that I put an SII39x42 on a Marlin 917vs and just last week I got another Sightron SII for a shotgun. Needless to say, I think Sightrons are an excellent scope especially for the money and you will enjoy yours.
