After seeing it at a recent gun show, I thought I'd share this with the other shotgun users : a very nice adatper kit is available from Mesa Tactical that can be used as a shotgun platform for both optics and a telescoping AR-15 style buttstock combined with a pistol grip.
The ones I saw can be used on not only the Remington 870 but also the Mossberg 500 and the Winchester 1300. http://www.mesatactical.com
Very nice.
Very Respectfully,

We currently have one in for testing in S.W.A.T. I put it in Louis Awerbuck's hands for a full evaluation. First impression is that the unit is very high quality and a lot of thought as gone into it, including not having to drill and tap the receiver for the rail.

I currently have a setup for my 870. The adaptor is pretty robust. I really like how you can go bare back or hang a much of goodies on it such as the shotshell carriers and any lights you may choose the use. Recoil with the unit shooting shotshells was pretty pleasant.
Performing loading drills was pretty easy and the press/cup swivel for the sling is well thought out. Just about everything mounts to the adaptor vs the shotgun itself. Even the rails provided in the kit were very well made. Duke of Lawnchair and I mounted an ACOG and AIM Point to the 870. It points and shoots every well. Its a very impressive unit and the guys that run the store are some of the nicest guys.
I cant wait for the low mount to come out!!
