Caught the post-bank-robbery gunfight scene on last night's screening of "Heat" on TBS...what kind of rifle is Al Pacino using there?

It's the "paratroop" model with a folding stock and what looks like a M16 birdcage flash hider.;)

Thank you both! I thought the thing looked somewhat "FN-ish."

Razor is close.

Its actually a Sig 552 (basically the carbine version of the 550)

Nah, it's a FNC as said earlier. Note, no diopter sights.

Compare with this image in almost the same perspective:

Definitely an FNC. I watched the schenes in question numerous times and conducted frame-by-frame analysis to prove somebody elses point. Kick-butt movie, very realistic shoot-out scene. I would recommend the movie based solely on the gun-play.

Zundfolge,
I was kidding. The rifle is an FNC. If you search just about ANY board that even mentions firearms, you'll find numerous lengthy debates about that particular rifle. :)

Definitely an FNC; just ask ElIwannacoolgunvirusTejon. :D

I posted this on another forum when people got characters and guns mixed up in Heat:

Shoot out- Al Pacino: FN FNC Val Kilmer: Colt Commando M16 Rober Deniro Colt Commando M16 Tom Seizmore: Galil ARM Three Cops: AR-15 One Cop: Mossberg 590 LA PD: Beretta 92fs and Remington 870

Drive In- Val Kilmer: HK91 Al Pacino: HK USP Tom Seizemore: Benelli M3 Convertible The Guy From True Lies(you know who I mean!)- Steyr TMP

I can't rember the armor car heist that well, but I know there was an FAL and 1911. I can't wait for next week thats when my FNC reaches my FFL.

The question is "supposed" to be "What kind of rifle did Al Pacino use during the bank robbery scene in Blackhawk Down?"

Cleary some of you need more time on ar15.com. :D

There is an FNC for sale in a local Pawnshop in my town. I wish I had $2500 to play with. They also have a Sphinx AT2000 for $559. Unfortunately, I must fix my car before I can buy some new guns.

another48hrs, it's been a few weeks since I last saw Heat, but I don't believe Al Pacino was at the drive-in.

Was the TMP dude also one of the Tangos in True Lies? I thought he looked familiar.

He wasn't but, Robert Deniro was...;)

Deniro has a Sig in the whole film.

Other guns: Megastar (wacko), some chopped 1911 (Pachino) Galil (sizemore) and some 10" barrel CAR's in the big shootout.

Handy, are those "free float" 10" barrel CAR's? :D

I meant Robert Deniro. How could I get those mixed up? Ones a good actor and the other's an over actor. :D He does have a USP in the Drive In scene though. It's huge and blocky. I'm guessing that these guys are proffessional bank robbers and murderers so they use multiple illegally unregistered weapons and the fact that Michael Mann just has to have a neat gun in every scene.

You also see Deniro set a USP on a glass table and then he strolls to back of the house and looks out his back window at the Pacific ocean..;)

Tamara, yes, it's an FNC. Wanna buy one?

Nah, I'm pretty much full up on poodleshooters right now. ;)

(Although at some point or another, I need to score an AR shorty and also see if I can't turn the AR70 into an Augie doggie...)

I think this is the most asked gun question on the internet. It comes up at least once a day on a gun board somewhere on the net.
