The guy I use to do my FFL transfers, Dmitry, is in the final stages of opening his new retail establishment. But a couple of troublemakers are trying to raise a ruckus. Here's a link to the news story.

chickenfried, how should a letter be addressed? To the mayor, or individual councilors? Good luck to Mr. Danislevsky; California certainly wouldn't be my choice of where to get into the gun biz.

And some of the bleating and whining in that story is just amazing, even from California. To be brief:

"We don't know the legality of what we are doing," said Commissioner Chris Ranken. "I know there's lots of passion on both sides of this issue."How kind of the City Council to consider the legality of its actions before the fact.

"I choose not to have guns in my community," said Pete Shoemaker. "That's the kind of community I want to live in."How nice of you to choose for everyone else, too!

Matthew Hamilton said he would have had second thoughts about moving to Pacifica had there been a gun store in town.Too bad it didn't open sooner.

But Ron Maykel had no difficulty in claiming he believed "the majority of people in this town don't like the idea of a gun store. I'm kind of surprised to see a gun store here, but it's not like I'm going to throw rocks through the window."Well that's so nice of you.

I'm not sure which is better writing the city council as a whole or individually. But I'm going to send them each a letter. I really can't believe the attitude of these people.

What's the deal with equating gun stores with liquor, gambling and porno joints? On the other hand Pacifica is pretty much hippy-heaven and anyone starting up a gun store should anticipate the ideological response that has erupted.

I don't think Pacifica's that bad, it's no Santa Cruz or Berkeley. It'll be nice having a store in a nice neighborhood, with plenty of parking.

I'm sure I'll always miss the temperate climate and the beaches.
