there was no option for "0". i don't have one. those 1911's are outdated, dangerous pieces of junk! :neener:
just kidding. there's nothing wrong with them at all. just not my thing. i might pick one up someday when the other priorities on my arsenal list are obtained.
November 24, 2004, 09:57 PM
Let's see ....
1 Charles Daly
Seems I have 14 at hand right now.
November 24, 2004, 10:14 PM
I have four, I was reluctant to count my AMT.
Also have one LDA.
November 24, 2004, 10:24 PM
2 Springfield Professionals, 1 Colt M1991A1 Series 80 ORM.
November 24, 2004, 11:09 PM

November 24, 2004, 11:55 PM
Hey everyone, its my first post on The High Road. Nice to be here, anyway I don't own a 1911............. yet. But I do own 2 Browning Hi-Powers, is that close enough ? Just kidding  My next gun purchase is a Springer "loaded" champion model. I have always liked the commander length 1911 guns.
November 25, 2004, 12:04 AM
I had one when I started on these forums, and now I have:
1 Norinco (the original one I had)
3 Kimbers (1 in 10mm)
1 Colt NRM
1 SA Mil-Spec
That's 6! :D
Alaskanmonte, welcome! You'll like owning your own 1911. :)
November 25, 2004, 01:39 AM
My Charles Daly 5" Blued was the first gun I bought.
Now, I also have a Springfield Loaded 5", Para Ordnance Carry 3" (okay, so it is an LDA model, I still count it) and a Kimber Eclipse Pro II.
I had a Springfield Mil Spec (the version with higher sites and slightly lowered ejection port) for a short time, but decided to trade it with plans to maybe get another later.
November 25, 2004, 02:18 AM
2 Kimbers, 2 Colts, 2 Springfields. What is next? Maybe 2 Wilsons. Then the divorce.
November 25, 2004, 07:38 AM
I'm guessing in the 11-15 range, but could be more. Currently I do know of having some in 9MM, 38 Super, 9x23 Win, 45 Auto, and 10 MM. Funny how many it takes when you take into account different makes (Colt, etc) ..styles (Govt, Commander,etc)...calibers.....finishes.....etc. Keeps a guy busy and poor.
November 25, 2004, 07:42 AM
Gott im Himmel!!
I hate to admit it!!
But I own two of the beasts!!
A Springfield Loaded and an old IAI M5000!!!
November 25, 2004, 08:16 AM
Wish you had also given the option of zero, so you could see the percentage of M1911 owners versus not.
November 25, 2004, 08:23 AM
1 Randal, for the time being.
2 Norincos in working order
1 Norinco in a shoe box undergoing recontructive/cosmetic surgery.
Next one will probably be a Caspian commander size home build, once other things in my life get straightened out
A 1911 is what God shoots, the more you have the closer you are to godliness. Especially when you clean them
November 25, 2004, 08:31 AM
Welcome to The High Road Alaskanmonte.
I only have five – Three Colts, a Springfield and a Sistema..
November 25, 2004, 08:37 AM
I got my first 1911 about 40 years ago - a parkerized Remington Rand of WW2 vintage. I've always liked them, and have more of them than any other type of handgun. Right now I have 7:
1 Kimber CDP Pro .45
1 ODI Viking Commander .45
5 Colt Gold Cups in .45, 10mm and .38 Super
November 25, 2004, 08:49 AM
Photo Guy say:
I'll say it before someone else does - I don't have any 1911's(wish I did); I do have 8 1911a1's.
Seems like a lot but I still want to get a commander sized 1911a1 and a stainless S70.
Wellll...Since we're nit-pickin' on technicalities here...Let us sit down, take off our shoes, and define our terms. A Commander ain't a 1911 OR a 1911A1. Neither is the Gold Cup. Nor any stainless gun or any gun that ain't in .45 ACP caliber. Series 80? Nope...Sorry. Those are all variants of the 1911A1. True-to-design copies are clones. If ya really wanna get picky, so are the contract USGI pistols built under license from Colt. And if ya REALLY wanna
take it to the wall, neither is any commercial Colt. Colt Pistol, Model of 1911...or Colt Pistol, Model of 1911A1 US Army is just that. Colt's commercial version is "Colt's Government Model."
Sorry. It's the meds...
November 25, 2004, 08:56 AM
Caspians, of course :neener:
What else could they be?
November 25, 2004, 09:02 AM
Four different Baers, a Briley 1911 (made from Caspian components) and a custom double-stack .38 Super target gun. Love'em all!
Ken buddy! Ya wanna sell that Chinese Commander Clone? Hmmmm? :D
November 25, 2004, 11:55 AM
Wellll...Since we're nit-pickin' on technicalities here...A Commander ain't a 1911 OR a 1911A1. Neither is the Gold Cup.....
Yup. I totally agree. There is always a tradeoff between a "technically correct"* terminology and simple, easy communication. In this case the question might better have been posed as "How many 1911 'style' guns do you own" .
Then, again, here2learn may have actually wanted to know how many true 1911's were out there. It is possible. That interpretation is the more likely one if his post appeared on 1911forums.
*The best kind of correct.
November 25, 2004, 12:12 PM
25+? :what: And I thought that I was a gun nut.
2 Colt Series 70s
November 25, 2004, 12:18 PM
"1911-Pattern" is my phrase for'em.
November 25, 2004, 12:54 PM
Just one, but it's a good one, full size Ed Brown Kobra two-tone. :)
November 25, 2004, 04:13 PM
I noticed a few people dont have any 1911 patterned pistolas, could a moderator edit the poll and add that option?
Just a thought.
November 25, 2004, 04:16 PM
Tuner..... how sad that I really don't have any 1911's.... I thought I had five of them.... guess we will have to go shopping after the holidays so you can aim me at the real ones...
Do they go on sale after Christmas ???
November 25, 2004, 04:41 PM
I was not going to include a 25+ option but then I thought "This is The High Road, I'd better. Just in Case". LOL.
And yes I meant 1911 pattern weapons.
November 25, 2004, 05:08 PM
Well, since I'm not currently carrying any of them for duty or off duty, I only own 3 of them (Different sizes, which means "1911-pattern", I suppose :) ). That will probably change in the next few months because I plan to buy another Colt ... probably a stainless Government Model ... which would bump me up in the next level of this Poll.
Although I'm not carrying a 1911 at this time, I've been doing a reasonable amount of training and shooting with different models in recent years, just to keep current. Wilsons, Colts, the new SW1911, Kimbers, Springfields and a few others ...
I came really close to buying a SW1911. Great pistol. May still buy one sometime. On the other hand, I still like Colts best.
November 25, 2004, 05:23 PM
I have 2.
I NRM Colt Government and a Series I Kimber Classic Royal.
I only have a need for one, but when I saw the Series I sitting in the gunshop I wanted to see what all the hype was about.
I dont really see the need for more. Except for a Commander model, a scandium model, a lightrail model (for home defense), a micro model, and a two tone semi custom model.
But there is just soo many other guns out there to buy. I dont see getting another 1911 in the near future.
November 25, 2004, 08:30 PM
1 Springfield Ultra V10
1 Dan Wesson 10MM Pointman
and I want more, MORE!!!!
November 25, 2004, 08:54 PM
Rock River Arms Elite Commando 5"
Rock River Arms Basic Limited Match
2 Colt Series 70's (re-issue,consecutive serial numbers :D )
2 "Clackamas" stamped Kimbers
1 custom by Ned Christiansen built on Springfield
1 custom by Ned Christiansen built on Kimber Compact (currently for sale)
and if WJR gets back to me soon, a NRM Colt 1911a1 :what:
November 25, 2004, 08:55 PM
How about Pattern or, like the new soundtracks "inspired by"?
THen I have 4
Colt Series 70 .45
Colt Series 80 LW Cmdr .45
Colt Mustang Pocketlite .380
November 25, 2004, 09:00 PM
My stable currently holds a 1926 vintage Colt Commercial Model 1911 that I inherited from my Grandfather and a Series 70 Gold Cup National Match that I got in the early '80's. That's my current HD/carry pistol, but I'm looking to eventually get a Combat Commander to fill that role.
November 25, 2004, 11:31 PM
Currently just 1, Kimber Custom Eclipse II. Used to have a SA Mil-Spec, but got rid of it after continuous problems. Not so much as a suppressed burp out of the Kimber, it's treated me very well as an owner. If I had a bigger budget, I'd own more just to try them or to have one with a rail. However, I'm not the type of owner to buy without the intent to use in competition or carry. No lookers/strictly collectors for me, so I don't ever see myself owning 25+. Don't quote me on it in case I happen to win the lottery tomorrow though.

November 26, 2004, 03:08 AM
But, I will eventually get one, if I can stop buying Wheel Guns, Hi-Powers, Shotguns and Rifles. There's only so much $ to go around and everytime I get enough 1911a1 money I end up buying something from the above list instead.
The 1911-A1 I have my eye on is this Black Stainless full size model from Springfield with all the goodies. Also comes with a fully adjustable Bo Mar cut rear sight with 3-Dot Tritiums, black rubber grip panels and two stainless mags with slam pads. The gun has a great feel in my hand and the trigger feels good out of the box.
I have zero true 1911 pistols, but in 1911a1 configuration I have 3. A Colt Gold Cup National Match in stainless, a S&W Model 645 ( 2nd gen ) in stainless, and a Para Ord P-12 in a black finish that is my carry piece. 45acp is my favorite caliber and I intend to purchase the WWI version that Colt is currently offering...includes original military finish, laynard ring, packaging, manual, and even the screwdriver that came with the original...then I will have a true 1911...
November 27, 2004, 01:26 AM
One Kimber Custom. allthough I do have a Para frame that I will eventualy build on......
November 27, 2004, 02:46 AM
Think I am right on the hairy edge of the next up category which would just under 20 category. I am assuming you mean 1911 and 1911A1's. If it is just 1911's I have only one.
