Chicago Enforcement of City Codes....

In the past two weeks we've had two tragic events at nightclubs where over 110 people died. The handwringing save me from myself crowd is already calling for legislation to prevent that from ever happening again. They are demanding accountability and someone's head will have to roll. At least for the Rhode Island nightclub fire....

In regards to the Chicago stampede, it's quiet....Hizzonor has started a grand crusade to disarm those of us who are unfortunate enough to live in Illinois outside of Chicago. Well, why don't we turn the tables? 21 people are dead because the Daley administration didn't enforce the order closing the club for violations of the city codes. Perhaps if he put half the resources into the code enforcement division as he puts into worrying about if I can own a gun in Southern Illinois those 21 people might be alive today. The St. Louis Post Dispatch reported that the nightclub may have been open in violation of the codes because the owners were connected to Jesse Jackson....hmmmm...do we have a similar case to the licenses for bribes scandal that the Ryan administration (who I have no love for) was involved in?

Where are the lawsuits? Where are the charges of official misconduct? What about a federal investigation into who in the mayors office knew what and was issuing permits or instructions not to enforce the order closing the club?

Maybe we can give Daley something besides guns to worry about. How do we get a special federal prosecutor to look into this? One from outside the district that includes Chicago.

Any ideas?

Jeff

I would say that we should write letters to the states attorneys office but Madigan runs that so more that likely you will get nowhere other than that I am unsure>

A USA that includes Chicago but outside the district??? Or an USA outside the Northern District of Illinois? Anywho, why?

The USA of NDIL has not been shy in the past. Depends what evidence of misconduct under colour of law there is.

El Tejon,

According to what I've heard the USA of NDIL is a Daley man and Daley controlled the license for bribes investigation from behind the scene to keep the Ryan administration in line. I don't know how true it is, but there is enough public mistrust of anything that happens in Chicago that it would be hard for him to have credibility in the rest of the state no matter what the investigation discovered.

I haven't researched the other states, but it does seem to me that Illinois is cursed with the most corrupt political machine in the nation. I think our politicians would be right at home in a sub-saharan socialist country.

I will move to a free state even if it bankrupts me rather then give up my guns. I'd prefer not to do that..would rather fight if I could. But if it comes down to it, I will leave before I will turn in or register a gun.

Jeff, who is Chicago is not a Daley man?:D Moving for a special federal prosecutor is pretty heavy stuff. Would be lots at stake in NDIL.

I know exactly what you mean about Chicago. I served my time in the belly of the beast. 3 years and out after time off for good behavior. Love to visit, have a lot of great memories (wink, wink), but would hate to live there!:( I live where I make the same money as my buddies up there, but am surrounded by all kinds of guns and a noted lack of taxes (more money for the young and nubile and tactical golf vacations).:D

Good grief WLS just said that the video from that nightclub will be released! I'm afraid to flip on the television.:uhoh:

Come to Indiana. You could be a Purdue cop. Lots of overtime and no fights. Write police reports such as, "observed drunken, but well-scrubbed frat boy, arrested same.";)

Closing on the house on 3/28. Taking the wife, 4 guns and 2 cats to San Antonio. Lived here all my life and can't deal with it anymore. Like my folks who came here from Germany in '29 I need to find some freedom.

Remember that Clinton fired all the U.S. Attorneys and replaced them with HIS people. I don't remember hearing that Dubya cleaned that house out.
