Seems like an awful lot of expense and weight for some thing whose pupose would be better excuted by a Marlin 336.

Uh, it's called the Mossberg 695, and it's 12ga...and probably a good deal cheaper.:p

It looks like a well made and accurate piece, and as useful as a parachute on a submarine.
Made up in something like 375 H&H Mag, then possibly of merit for long range use.

Coming from a state that has shotgun-only regs for whitetail deer hunting, this may actually have a market.:) Weight may not matter on top of the stand when you shoot off the benches some of them have and if guys can carry sofas up there, why not this thing?
