OFCC INVITED TO SUNDAY DISCUSSION ON OHIO NEWS NETWORK PROGRAM ____________________________________________________


SUNDAY: Capitol Square airs at 10:00am & 8:00pm, and again Monday at 10:00am

Ohioans For Concealed Carry's Central Ohio Coordinator, Steve Grimes, will appear on a pre-recorded episode of Capitol Square on ONN Sunday morning. Steve will debate John Gilcrest, a lawyer representing The Ohio Association of Chiefs Of Police.

Mr. Gilcrest did not receive the memo from their National Association, whose own polls have indicated for more
than two years in a row that police chiefs nationwide overwhelmingly support our cause.

The panel will also consist of Bill Cohen who can be heard on National Public Radio reporting statehouse news, and Laura Bischoff of the Dayton Daily News. Check your local cable listing to see if your cable company carries The Ohio News Network. From what we've heard the show went rather well and Steve did an excellent job of representing the organization and the cause!

Ahh yes, the various law enforcement groups.


How about this for a factoid. The Ohio FOP does not support citizens carrying concealed weapons. Afterall, it promotes a risk to LEOs and we aren't trained like LEOS.

What the Ohio FOP also doesn't support is the carring of concealed weapons by off-duty reserve police officers. The only difference in training or authority of a reserve officer is that they are not paid for their duties. They have the same expectations and obligations to act off-duty as a paid officer, yet the FOP throws a hissy fit if a department authorizes reserve LEOS to carry off-duty.

It is not about training or officer safety. It IS about POWER.

As far as I'm concerned, the FOP, Buckeye Sheriffs Assoc, OHP et al have no say in the exercising of MY RIGHTS.

Make it about power then. Hit them where it hurts. No state funding for any local law enforcement function.

The opinions of the FOP/OSP et. al. only matter because Taft has, allegedly, staked his support of a CCW bill to the opinion of these groups. If he came out and said "the only way I'll support CCW in Ohio is if I win Powerball next drawing," would we blame anyone but him for his stance? Nope. Neither should we here. FWIW, I'm not exactly a happy union member, and the FOP's stance on this issue is just the icing on the cake. :rolleyes:

I also say "allegedly" because Taft will vote against any bill regardless of FOP support. He's using them as a convenient cover.
