Where do your loyalties lie?
Will you buy what ever catches your fancy or do you tend to stick with one maker?

I have a couple of "favorites" one is Springfield Armory another is Ruger. I go with reliabilty over any real loyality.

No brand loyalty here.

I have to admit I never buy a 45 Automatic Pistol or an AR15 without a horse on it. For other guns, I have other tastes. YMMV

Actually right now all of my guns are from a different manufacturer. I pretty much go with speficic guns I like based on feel and price.

I dont have brand loyalty, I prefer to say that I have "strong preferences." :D

For the most part I'll buy a Ruger for a revolver and a HK for an auto. The only exception was becasue it was a really, really, good deal.

My Brand Loyality goes away when they move the manufacturing South or oversea's. Case in point, Remington, I will not buy anything that's is made in Kentucky. I think Kentucky is a great state, but there are 20, 30 year employees in IIon, New York, who have been making great guns with that experience. Same thing for other manufacturers that set up shop in a different location.
The basis for their brand quality goes out the window, in my view.

Me, I think it is a result of shooting so many rounds from just a few guns that I've developed that muscle memory required to duplicate actions over & over again. That and some guns just feel natural in my hadns & others don't

If the second choice was "several different makers" I would have chose it, but I chose "whatever is shiny" because I have 6 1911's by 4 makers. I have different brands of rifles and revolvers by Smith and Ruger, but there are makers I'm either leery of or plain won't buy from.

no specific brand loyalty..Ive learned that all the models from 1 specific company arent specific to my wants so alil of this and alil of that, mostly,I like rugers but for the models and features ruger doesnt make or are too expensive,I'LL go with something else.

if a 150 dollar sks will shoot as reliably and accuratly as a 400 dollar 7.62x 39mm mini,I'LL go with the sks.

impulse buying can be a costly thing. :o

Out of my modes collection so far I have items from 5 manufacturers. The percentages are:

32%
26%
20%
15%
7%

I tend to buy what I like from a variety of manufacturers, I tend to choose a model or style of firearm and then find a high quality item from a high quality manufacturer. Just because only 7% of my collection is from a particular manufacturer doesn't mean that I wouldn't increase that percentage given the opportunity.

I love Walthers and Sigs. I love old S&W revolvers, especially the Model 27. In rifles I like Remington and Savage. I also believe I'd rather get beat on price than quality. I have yet for that to happen with the above brands!

A nice option to answer with..

" Is there a brand you would absolutely not buy no matter the conditions?"

I will certainly go out of my way to avoid brands,as often as not I will buy one brand as to avoid buying another.
Fords,Glocks,Levis, are all on the not on my dime list. Some for spite, some for preference and the other for personal reasons. You decide where your dimes go and I will make my choices. Same reason I belong to one political party and not another.

Life ain't fair or easy and neither am I.

No brand loyalty here, but I do have brand disloyalty. I won't buy a European car, nor will I buy a Dodge or Ford. When it comes to guns, whatever goes bang, I will buy it. :) I've got a .357 Smith and Wesson and a .45acp Glock.

I buy any ammo that is cheap, be it Wolf, WWB, UMC, or whatever. If I'm just plinking at the range, it just has to go bang everytime for me to use it.

I will not use FRAM automotive products because they're junk and I will not buy Taylor guitars or anything new by Gibson.

Motor oil, it's Mobil 1 all the way.

Hmmm. Let's see -

SIG
FEG
Ruger
Taurus
Marlin
Romanian AK
British Enfield
Czech Mauser
FrankenAR (Bushy / DPMS / Rock River)

I guess I'll have to go with shiny.

ExtremeDooty
November 28, 2004, 08:31 PM
Shiny for me, it has to have a look that I like. Until I get a better job, it has to be reasonably priced and reliable. Above all else, it has to feel right in my hands.

I can't go with one company or another.S&W made good revolvers,Colt's made good 1911's,other companies are now making good products(and some are not!)
Therefore I can't vote on this poll.It does pique your interest tho.tom.

My brand loyalty is marginal. I won't by from lower priced dealers, or those that I feel are screwing non-LEO gun owners. But I won't stop trying other 1911's even though Kimber has been my favorite so far.

November 29, 2004, 02:06 AM
Tom: I was kind of referring to what you described:
Say S&W for revovlers
Colt for autos
Remington for shotguns
Winchester for rifles

I'm hard pressed to think of many who are producing all four right now. So it would be hard to ahve one producer for all of them,

Mostly Sigs, as they're what I trained on. I shoot them best, but it's largely reflexive, and given their reliability and construction, I love 'em.

That said, I've got a Kahr that works and feels wonderful, and I recently splurged on a Kimber, which is a whole different animal to itself, but It's become one of my favorite guns.

So...mostly one maker, though I'm willing to do a little grazing in the pasture from time to time.

In terms of guns, I have little loyalty. There are many companies that make quality guns. Why limit yourself to one flavor.

"Where do your loyalties lie?"

If it works for me, I continue to buy that brand. If not, I will look at o ther brands. But, in general, I'll pay a bit more to get what I like rather than save a little and get something which I might not like as well.

I have no brand loyalty. I don't care who makes it as long as it meet certain criteria: goes bang all the time(or 99.99% percent of the time), fits my hand, is decently accurate, and won't bankrupt me. There are some manufacturers I like better than others but I don't like everything from any specific company.

I don't really have any particular brand loyalty, if it goes bang with no problems it's fair game..... that being said I'm hoping Santa will bring me something shiny and blued for x-mas as I've been good and only got one new gun this year....

I have no particular brand loyalty, only my mantra. I HATE CHEAP FIREARMS. If I am going to buy something, it will have to have a well made fit, finish, performance, and feel to it. I have firearms made by Colt, Ruger. Weatherby, Remington, Browning, Springfield Armory (the real one), Benelli, Colt/Sauer, Sistema, Smith & Wesson, Saiga/Krebs, Winchester, Walter, Erfurt, etc. I just like quality stuff without compromises.

I guess I have no specific brand loyalty other than to quality...
I have Colt SAA Cavalry, Colt 1911A1, Glock (17, 26, 34), Kahr P9, a bunch of Remingtons, a DPMS black gun and two Mossbergs (500 Marine and 590A1). I don't mind paying for quality, and tend to stay away from the "shiny" and "pretty" guns. I look at them as tools, not as wall hangers.

No particular brand loyalty here. I do have a soft spot for Springfield pistols. There are a few brands that I will not buy anything new from in the foreseeable future due to bad experiences or other reasons, I do try to keep my options open.
