Had a great time at the chinese returant last year and was wondering if we are going to get together again this year. Same place is fine or if anyone else has someplace better or they prefer thats fine also. The food was great and was close to the convention center.
Its 2 months away but thought I would put this out there for any suggestions or thoughts.

How do you get in? do you have to be in the industry, a writer, or just a plain ol' gun owner like me. It's in Las Vegas right?

I'll be there in January, but not sure if I'm up to a THR meet since I've got 2 other meets to go to already.

I'm going to be there again this year guys and this time we will have a booth to man, #8670. I would love to meet up but I'm bringing the family with me this time round and I don't think you guys wanna have a 4-month old around screaming ;)
FYI, I have made plans to take the family to another restaurant in the main building in Chinatown (second floor). I don't have the name of it right now but I will try and post it after the CES show which is on the 4th of Jan. We were there a couple of times this year and the seafood was excellent!

ok I think we had a few locals that hooked us up last time so if they could start to get a place and the same as last year is fine or suggest someplace else is fine also.
Maybe we can start to get a count so they have a Ideal of who is going and what night.
I think sat. evening around 7 is about right but what do you think.
Put me down for 2.

Yes, let's get a count.
Last time we had a good turnout, but not enough that we had to make reservations or anything.
If you want to go to the same place, I can't see the problem with seating a dozen or so people: just like last time.
I am open to whatever you guys want to do (assuming I am off).

I was thinking about it 444 and were you the one who suggessted the chinese place?
I was one of the first there with Justin and Steve and they knew we were coming it seemed.
Just do not want to get there and not have a place for everyone.
Thats 2 for me, 2 for Chris and 444 so thats at least 5 so we have started toward getting it together.
I was thinking and was it friday we went? Not sure .
If someone could post the address and name of the place again that would be great. I remember exactly where it was but thats it.
Thanks Jon

That was "Citizen" that kind of put that last meeting together. I haven't seen him around for awhile.
I don't remember the name of the restraunt we went to the last time but it is on the south west corner of Spring Mountain and Valley View.
I was kind of surprised that we went there, but the food was good IMO and the price was right IMO.

Wild Alaska are you going to the show? if you are you are more than welcome. If you have never been and you are a dealer like you are you ned to go. The conections you make and the deals are really good.
444 if you have another place to go that works also as I am open for suggestions as we need someone more local to set the place up.
Its good we have right at a month left and it seems like we are going to have a good turn out.

Jon, I don't have any other suggestions: especially if you were happy with that place. I was surprised we went there only because out of all the world class restraunts in Las Vegas, we went to a off the beaten track (for tourists), run of the mill Thai restruant. I have no problem with it, but it was an unexpected choice.

I think maybe 444 might be right about better places to go. It does seem like a waste to eat there when they have alot of places nice in town. But want to keep is resonible also. Any suggestions on a place that could seat up to 20 folks without splitting us up?
Wild alaska let me know what booth you will be at and which days and I will stop by.

It looks like I will be attending the show for the first time this year. I don't plan to stay for all of it, but if I am there when you guys hook up for dinner I might be able to join you.
It would also be interesting to get a listing of the booth numbers and company names for THR members that will be exhibiting at the show. It would be fun to stop by and the faces behind the screen names.

You know, as an exhibitor, I wish the organizers will at least allow one day for the general shooting enthusiast to come in and enjoy the show. I personally think that companies underestimate the power of the 'people'.
Most pay too much attention to the gun rag writers and such and not enough time to properly educate the end users on what they can expect on all the new products and such. I guess a lot of companies forget that without the support of folks like you guys, where will we be now?
I guess (in their defense) that there's a lot to be dealt with when you allow everyone in and folks usually have lots of Qs and such BUT I still believe in the support of the shooters. I lost track of how many times we've gotten a call from stores asking to be dealers because their local shooters bugged the hell outta them to carry i-SHOT. Nuf said, I'll end up pissing off some folks ;)
I was surprised we went there only because out of all the world class restraunts in Las Vegas, we went to a off the beaten track (for tourists), run of the mill Thai restruant. I have no problem with it, but it was an unexpected choice.
444, I understand what you mean by that and like yourself, I am a foodie but there are restaurants in Chinatown Plaza that can be considered sorta 'world class'. I have clients coming in from the Far East just to get a sampling of restaurants like Harbor Palace, Kim Tar Seafood and Sam Woo BBQ. So if you folks are still planning to meet 'off the beaten track', I'd suggest you consider one of these. Valkman's in Vegas so let's send him ahead of time as our local scout :D
Last year on Jan 31st, Chinatown hosted their yearly New Year celebrations and it was a blast. I don't know if they are planning the same next year.
On that note, our best wishes to all of you for a Prosperous New Year.

The Chinese New Year does not fall at the same time (on our calendar) each year. The new year falls on Feb 9 this time so you will likely not see celebrations during the show weekend. :( [But last year it was January 22...so who knows.]

I was just at a frogman (BUD/S class 105) 25th reunion in LV, and we had our big dinner at "Battista's Hole In The Wall" Italian restaurant. It's located across Flamingo from Bally's, between the Barbary Coast casino/hotel on the strip, and the Bourbon Streen casino/hotel a block off the strip.
They handled our group of about 40 folks no problem, but did want it all on one check. We had appointed a "treasurer" to pay with a credit card, and we all paid him cash. If folks know this deal up front, it works fine. We had a separate private room all to ourselves! (Battista's is divided into lots of dining areas of various sizes. Table wine is free.)
After dinner, we all just migrated about 100 feet to the bar at Bourbon Street. Beers were only about $2 a pop, and they let us shove a bunch of tables together. We stayed there until the cows came home, no problemo.
That's my suggestion. Since it's my suggestion, I guess it's fair to volunteer myself as the credit card man, and make arrangements with the staff at Battista's to handle a group.
But I'm open to anything, whatever y'all decide. Chinese again would be fine. I'll be there!

That sounds pretty good to me ( read the book when I got back last year, Nice).
Maybe we can get a mod to put a post with a thumbtack on it so we could get a good head count and some numbers down.
What night would everyone prefer. either is fine for me either friday or sat. I think we might get a fwe more folks for friday but I will be there for both evenings so either is fine.
