Making a CZ P-01 lefty friendly

Shooting left handed, it's a bit awkward working the slide release and magazine release on my P-01.
Would the ambidextrous slide release for a CZ-85 work as a drop in replacement?
Also, is the magazine release button reversible? Peering into the gun, it appears to be, but the part illustration in the manual doesn't look symmetrical. Looks like you would just remove the screw that holds the spring, take out the spring, and switch it around. Am I missing anything?

Call Mike (CZ-USA master gunsmith) at 1-800-955-4486 or email him at gunsmith@cz-usa.com - he's always helpful and willing to answer questions.

Thanks for the suggestion about emailing Mike. I did so last night, and got a reply this morning. Nice.
He says that the CZ-85 slide release won't work because the P-01 frame is a bit wider.
I figured out the problem I was having trying to reverse the mag release. The hammer has to be all the way down, not in the decocked position. Then the trigger bar is just far enough forward for the screw to squeeze by. It took a bit of fiddling to get the mag button spring back in the right position after reversing the release. At first, it stuck out a bit into the well, which made mags not want to drop free.
At least I'm halfway there. :)

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. you are right about the hammer having to be al the way forward. I guess could have answered your question about the slide stop as well. The slide stop from the P-01 is a bit different. I noticed this when I compared it to the one on my 75b.

The Ambi slide stop would also require that the frame be modified, as well, as the piece on the opposite side fits in an enlarged hole in the frame, and is held in place by the slide stop spring.
There's a new CZ-85 Compact that is like the 75 Compact but ambidextrous -- but no decocker. That may be your best bet.
You should be able to get the mag release reversed -- if you can't do it, a gunsmith can.
As for the slide release -- you can always use the "slingshot" method and just grab the rear of the slide to release it. Some advocate that approach, anyway. (Since your hand is already in the area after a reload, its not a bad way to go.)
