Good Samaritan Won't Face Homicide Charge
Thursday February 27, 2003 10:25am

Tulsa - A man who shot and killed a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in downtown Tulsa will not face homicide charges.

Scott Denton was called a good Samaritan for intervening in the incident, which occurred on January 25th. Denton says he heard a woman screaming in a parked car.

The woman was able to escape the vehicle, but the suspect, Arville Lee Jordan, struck Denton with the car and was attempting to back over him when Denton fired the fatal shots.

Doug Drummond, Assistant District Attorney, says Denton had reason to believe he could have suffered great bodily harm. Drummond says Denton could still face a misdemeanor charge if it is found that he did not have a permit to carry the handgun.
