Not a question just a peeve!

Despite now enjoying the luxury of a faster connection (satellite) I still find it takes a while for message reply window to finish loading. Until it has completed I notice that selecting either a quote, image, or URL entry sub-dialog .... is not possible - you click and code-driven box will not show. I assume same for everyone, yeah?

Why a peeve? Just that in V2 versions of VB including 2.2.7 which was IIRC last one - it was possible to get on with reply even before download complete and that included getting the dialog box for these items.

No biggie I guess but - when starting a reply with a quote it seems quicker almost to write the tags and get on typing than wait for download to finish so as to use the feature - same with URL and IMG too.

Maybe try that Firefox patch posted in the Roundtable. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=114031 It seems to make everything pop up so fast, I don't notice a delay anymore before being able to hit the quote button!

WKW - thx for the link ... I have run Firefox but having switched to Opera for a while now an staying with that ... it certainly is faster than IE that's for sure and when I did have Mozilla running it was not much different from Opera re speeds.

Had one annoying glitch on Opera BTW yesterday ... went to ASUS site to question something about my mobo - ended up going to a page with form field but - everything stalled right out! Page would not complete, Opera froze and ... CPU went into lock-up 100% ... nasty. Took a while to escape out of that and then used IE with no prob. I guess there might have been some nasty ActiveX component maybe ... not sure.

I had the same problem, Chris.

My Opera browser went totally bezerk on me yesterday. It froze up while I was smurfin' another (Toyota related) website. I had to do the whole CTRL/ALT/Delete thing and quit it entirely. It pretty much happened like you described above. We are talking total computer lock-up!! :banghead:

I've also noticed that my Opera browser has been running very slowly during the last month or so. Some days it clicks right along, and other days it's total slug mode.. :(

So what I've decided to do is just use my Firefox browser for a few days to see if the problem is somehow related to my Opera browser, or if it's got something to do with my 56K internet connection. << I think it's my freebie Opera browser, truth be told. ;)

Schuey - interesting!!! Mine is a paid for version but quite honestly I doubt there'd be any difference in main operation terms. What version BTW? I am still resisting the upgrade because it sounds like interface is well different and .... not sure I want that. My version info is ....Version-7.23
, Build 3227, Platform Win32, System Windows XP Pro, Java - Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.4 I may run Mozilla but thing is the bookmark deal .. I hate having to try and get those back into another browser, tho I know Opera will import IE faves ... but even that you have to do it carefully it seems.

Here's what the specs are on my Opera browser, Chris..

Version 7.51, Build 3798, Platform Win32, System Windows XP,
Java - Sun Java Runtime Environment version 1.4

I didn't want to go back and use Mozilla either. I just figured, "What the heck, it can't hurt to use a different browser for a few days." ;)

Thx Schuey - not sure what latest is but, is your interface any different from an earlier one - or maybe this is your first anyways. Guess I'll have to upgrade eventually. Thx for feedback.
