Ok, check this out...

It is a 20-60x50mm telescope for $10. I was wondering if I could use this as a spotting scope? I know it says "telescope," but look at the magnification. Am I missing something, or is this worth the $10? I just want something for 100 yards. Sighting in and such.

Another option for only $4 is:

I might just go ahead and buy some binoculars though. I really like these:

The second pair would have a 7mm exit pupil, so would the first one at minimum zoom. What do you guys think?

The quality of the sight through the telescopes are going to suck! But hey, for 10 bucks if all you need to see are holes on paper in good light, then why not?

The Binocs you will play hell with. The 30-60 powers or whatever they were, will drive you crazy trying to see holes holding them without a tripod. You won't be able to hold them still enough. And the 9 powers aren't quite powerful enough to easily see holes with at 100yds.

A telescope will make everything you look at upside down, so know that if you don't use an inverter on it, it won't work very good.

If you want a very good spotting scope cheap, go to www.opticstore.com and get the $69 Yukon spotting scope. It's a very rugged, VERY clear spotter. I can see .223 holes clearly at 300 yards.

It's the best buy in spotting scopes, period. Do some searches on the gun boards and you'll see I'm not the only one who knows about these.

I have an El Cheapo Wallyworld 20x60 telescope. Dunno; maybe $20 or thereabouts. It works okay up to about 40X. After that, it's sorta blurry.

It's okay for use at the benchrest, or for casual use for eyeballing from my porch to out in the pasture. I wouldn't use it for any serious hunting work, though.

For hunting binoculars, I've always used inexpensive 7x35 on up to 10x40. However, I don't usually sit on a hillside for any lengthy period to glass for critters. If I did that, I'd sure go upscale for high-quality binoculars. Lotsa stuff will work fine for relatively short periods of use, before you get any eyestrain...

I have been known to use cheapo 20x scopes for spotting. I even hate to admit it but I mounted one a camera tripod for range use.

For the money I don't see how you can go wrong.

Actually, I think I'm going to order one to replace my "blazer spotting scop combo".
