Okay, so it's a Glock 17 and everybody and their brother has one......so why read my range report? I don't know, maybe you're as bored as I.
First my question....Are you the kind of person that it bothers you to put Hogue slip on grips on a Glock because it isn't part of the gun? Or, am I just wierd? I think the gun would be quite comfortable with them, it ain't bad now, but I carry it concealed under a shirt and wondered if the rubber will stick....also it kinda looks ugly...and the Glock don't need help in that dept.
Okay now the report.
quick shooting I shot American Eagle 147 gr. flat points which group great. The bullets print a tiny bit low at 21 ft. however that could just be me trying to get used to the grip angle. At 21 feet I shot the center out of a bulls eye with one eye closed but with both eyes open, shoot about a 1/2 inch low and left consistantly. A range master informed me that this was the effect of my eyes competing for dominance, but I kinda like that since I can aim left handed almost as comfortably right handed.
At 33 feet the gun was smack on....almost without trying. At 50, 60 and 75 feet the gun really came into the CZ75 catagory. I was shooting about a 1 1/2 to 2 inch group with Federal 147 gr. hydrashocks...I would shoot from an "triangle stance" which is what I call an Isosceles because I can't spell Isosceles. :p
I would take a long, carefully measured shot with careful breathing and actually get a bulls at 75 feet, which is wierd cause I couldn't even see the bulls. At that distance with contrast of the size of the front sight was bigger than the center of the target.
Needless to say that I am 100% please with this weapon, which is strange cause I HATED my Glock 22. I'm glad I gave Glock another look.
Now, should I Hogue grip this thing to satisfy the shooter in me or leave it alone to satisfy my inner minimalist and vanity?
EDIT: forgot to mention the ammo used was 147gr. flatpoint American Eagle, 125 grain Federal hydrashock 147 gr. hydrashock and no malfunctions....of course.
