You'll be served just fine with any one that you get. However, I've heard good things about the Yugos. I like my Romanian. It's a hard design to screw up, though.

Don't know where you can find one for cheap these days.

If you live near a Dunhams, they regularly have them for $120-$130. Other than that, I see most gunstores around here carry them in the $130-$150 range.

the romanians are great, the yugos are great as well, try J&G sales, they usually have some of the best prices around.

AIM Surplus (http://www.aimsurplus.com/) generally has a few Yugo SKS's at any given time. Never shot one of those, but I hear they're good.

I have a Norinco SKS myself (Chinese). It shoots well, and I've never had a problem with it.

Just nab a cheap one (~$100) that looks to be in decent condition and it should make a good little plinker.

Yugos don't have chromed bores. This may be important if you don't clean your SKS regularly.
