Is replacing the barrel of a locked breech pistol as simple as buying a new one, and putinig it in place of the existing barrel? I'm talking about a CZ75 or a BHP in 9mm luger. Is there any fitting required, or are these drop-in replacements?

Sorry if this sounds like a stupid question, but I've done several searches in multiple message boards and have not found the answer.

Thanks.

Hello. It can be. Some bbls are advertised as "drop in" and they usually do. If there's any doubt, have it checked by a gunsmith. If you buy the purposely oversized match bbls, they will have to be fitted.

Best.

I recently purchased a barrel assembly from Beretta for my Beretta pistol. Some fitting was required.

In fact, two out of the ten or so factory replacement parts I ordered required some fitting.

It just depends.

Call Barstow or Jarvis, order a drop in, and it will. Order an oversize to be gunsmith fitted, and it will need fitting.
