I looked at a FN five-seven last week. Interesting caliber round, 20 rounds, body armor piercing, etc. What I don't know is much about the company....FN.
Can someone fill me in?
Reputation, Customer Service, Reliability, etc. etc.
Thanks in advance.

FN has been around for a long time and is probably best known for producing the Browning Hi-Power.
Guns are usually of excellent quality and their reputation is nearly spotless. They don't usually deal with civilians much though. Most of their business is law enforcement/military based.
I own an FN Forty-Nine in .40S&W and love it. Great quality and very comfortable. Many of FN's non-hi power handguns can be had for excellent prices.

Fabrique Nationale has been around over a century. An FN pistol was used to assassinate Archduke Franz-Ferdinand, starting WW1.
The FN FAL rifle armed 90 countries of the free world from the 50s till now (some still use it). FN makes our M16s, the M249 SAW light machine gun, and M240 general purpose machine gun used in the U.S Service.
They made all of Browning's guns in Europe, which is why there's a FN Hi-Power and a Browning Hi-Power... same gun, different countries.

The Browning Hi-Power is made by FN in Belgium
It is usually assmebled somewhere else. Most recently in Portugal.
Browning is part of the Herstal group.
