Well. I was walking around my local shop and guess what followed me home.
I ended up buying a Ruger sp101 in .22lr
I only have one word...

WOW

This gun shoots so much better than I do it isn't even funny. I was hitting the 10ring more than I have with any other gun I own....including my beloved Security Six.
I got the one with the 4inch barrel and in about %90-%95 condition. My only gripe is that it is a six shooter, but as well as this thing shoots I can get over that VERY quickly.
I do have one question though. I went immediately to the range in the back and ran about 100 through it. I noticed when I was loading it that every now and then it would be hard to chamber a round when I was reloading. I think it may have been the Blazer ammo I was using though because it was very intermittent and not always on the same chamber. Anyone else ever had this happen?
Also, I am thinking about getting some larger grips. Anybody recommend anything in particluar? I was thinking about some pachmeyers like on my 'six but I am not sure.

dirty cyl holes..........one of those things with .22 revolvers
The Blazer stuff does not help though as it is pretty smokey. Try some CCI mini-mag and it might stay cleaner a bit longer.

I would go with a good Hogue monogrip

Sp101 in 22Lr WOW that would be nice with a 3inch barrel.:) Congrats on your new SP101. Try Hogue Monogrips on your Sp101 they feel pretty good and cost around $15-$20 .:)

Another great thing about the .22 version is that they have adjustable sights. I believe the .32mag one does too. SP-101 is one of my favorite guns, a .22 and a .32 is on the list.

I've got a 2.25" SP in .22LR. It too is very accurate, even with the short barrel. A 3" barrel was once offered - don't know if that length is still in current production though.

I've got the Hogue grips on mine (since that's what it's .357 sibling has). If you already have Pachmeyer's on a larger revolver you may want to go with them (to better duplicate handling characteristics between them). I find that lots of trigger control and sight aquision practice with the inexpensive .22's translates to better shooting of larger caliber revolvers.

I too occasionally encounter a "sticky hole". It's just fouling with a particular cartridge. Seems to happen once every 30 rounds or so with the under $10 a brick of 500 stuff I feed it. I've never encountered sticky extraction though. It's something that's common to .22 revolvers - but they always come flying straight out of mine.
