"Have you seen my...."

Has anyone else ever misplaced a box of ammo, or anything of the like? I've spent the last five hours looking for a $1.50 box of Aguila powderless .22s. I can't for the life of me find them, and everyone else is getting tired of hearing "hey, have you seen my aguilas??"

I'll not admit to some of the things I've misplaced.... ;-

I think I may end up just replacing them... and as soon as I get them, I'll find the other box.
Maybe I should start a new thread with a poll... "Is it worth my time to search my entire house looking for the 24 remaining aguilas?" :neener:

I once misplaced a holster that I was going to wear to the range. I looked over and over and over and over for it, only to remember I placed it in my bag the night before so I wouldn't forget it. I had placed the bag in the truck, and then went "oh yea, I wanna try that new rig I just bought.
Well sometimes I admit it, i'm a knucklehead.

I lost a whole gun club once.
When I arrived at the scene of a robbery once , a safe was missing...the one with a bunch of my handguns in it. The couldn't get into the big ones...took the smaller one right out the front plate glass window...with a wrecker.
Holters: I have a Galco IWB for a 1911 , Two for K frames, Two for J Frames and One for a Keltec P-11 - "missing".
5k 209 primers have walked off, probably with the 2K Large Pistol and 1K small pistol primers.

I accepted some time ago that there's another dimension that periodically absorbs but usually returns random objects.
By being organized, I can delay it but I can never prevent that dimension from opening.

Must be, must be.... seems the only logical answer. ;)

Lancel, you're right.
It's black holes and white holes working together.
The Black holes suck-in your favorite socks. Mother Nature, wanting to be equal across the universe, also designed white holes to spit out what the blacks holes have ingested.
That's why as soon as you stop looking for your favorite socks they appear right where you thought they should be. :D

This sounds very unintelligent, but I have been looking for things I have been holding, let the insults begin...

I'm not bad to lose ammo, I'm bad to find it. I found a valuepack of .45 under my bed and cant remember where it came from (well, I know where it came from, I just dont remember getting it, ot losing it). The bad thing is that I never find ammo when I'm running low, I found this one after I got home from buying four more.
I lost the drum to my thompson once. It was the main reason I bought the gun. I got the gun (like-new unfired condtion), two 30 round mags, and the drum for a grand. At the time, I could have sold the drum for at least $500.
This sounds very unintelligent, but I have been looking for things I have been holding, let the insults begin... No insults from me, I do the same thing.

That's just another reason to buy ammo in lots of 1000 rds. or more, as it's easier to find large misplaced objects than small ones....

I mislaid two brand-new, in-the-bag Wilson mags about 4 months ago and still have'nt found them.

Two boxes of 9mm white box. Lost them about a year ago and still haven't found them. And yes, I did buy them, I asked the person that was living with me at the time.

Still looking for my 1911 Holster. I think I put it in the car before coming back from Labor day break, and I almost certainly remember bringing it in the room. But as to where it is, I have no idea :uhoh:

Actual conversation …
Me: “Honey … have you seen my reading glasses? I’ve looked everywhere for the *&%# things and I can’t find them anywhere!”
She: “You mean the ones on the top of your bald head?”
Me: “DOOOOH!”

I tried finding 19 rounds of .40S&W Speer Gold Dots this weekend. I bought a box of 20, and I can find -one- but the other 19 are missing.
I know where they're at though... they're loaded into Glock 23 mags... but I can't find the mags either!

Confession:
Whilst in the USMC, on the yearly KD qual course, we were hoofing it from the pits to the firing line. Something felt odd.....yea...I didn't have my rifle, it was leaning against the wall in the pits.....
300m sprint, plus another 200m down to my pit, and back...and I actually still shot better than I had ever before!

I tore the whole house apart friday night trying to locate my vietnam war surplus bag that I take deer hunting with me. Saturday was the opener. Well I did go a feild without my bag that I normally carry, used my strap vest instead.
I ended up shooting a deer Sat AM, so I decided to go duck hunting on sunday. I opened up the tub with all my waterfowl gear and on top was my bag that I take deer hunting. I am still trying to figure out how it got there from the tub with my deer hunting equiptment.

When I started to reload my mentor and friend who was teaching me told me
a story about misplacing three boxes of 30-30 reload ammo (~1984). He said that he
and his wife looked for it for weeks and never found it. Fast forward to a
couple of years later. They were moving to Montana (1992) and I was helping then
with all the loading of stuff. They had this hugh china cabinet in the front
room. When we tipped it back to carry the top half out, guess what fell off
the top.......... three boxes of 30-30 ammo. Bill has a habit of putting the date
on his reloads. Guess what the date on these boxes was....... September
1977! :what:
We took it out to the range and they fired just fine. :)

Not exactly misplaced, but embarrassing anyway. I asked my father to borrow one of his pistols. My mother, who doesn't know one gun from another, said "You borrowed it the last time you were here."

I got into the habit of using my motorcycle to go to the range. Well, a range bag just doesn't work very well on a sportbike, so I started using my Eagle A-3 3-day assault pack to transport my gear in. Well, one time a LEO buddy of mine gave me 4 boxes of Cor-Bon .45s. I decided to stash two, and take the other two boxes to the range to see if it would feed/work fine in my Kimber. I only used one 20-round box, worked good, so I left the other box in the backpack and forgot about it.
Fast forward 4-5 months later. I went to visit my parents in Hawaii, so I went and flew out of SFO to Honolulu. Got there fine, enjoyed my week. Was getting ready to fly back home so went through the metal detectors/baggage check at Honolulu. I noticed the X-Ray operator was looking at her screen with interest when my backpack went through. She asked me to empty the contents, and she ran the Eagle A-3 through again. She double-checked that the pack was empty, ran it through again, pauses, and finally called for a supervisor.
I'm getting concerned at this point, and I just about shat my pants when she says to her supervisor, "I see bullets in the backpack, but I can't find it." Now, bear in mind this is post 9/11 when everybody had their panties in a bunch about airport security. I had visions of myself extending my vacation in Guantanamo Bay. So I tried to play it off, with the "ohhh" *slap forehead with palm* bit. I asked to see the backpack and pulled out the MIA box of Cor-Bon .45s from the almost-hidden camelbak compartment.
They called the Sheriff deputies over and I thought for sure I was done! Deputy takes the box, looks at it, looks at me and says very politely, "would you like us to check this in for you, sir?" Me: "Uhh, no, that's OK, you can keep it". And I walked away from the checkpoint while the two deputies argued over who gets to keep the ammo. They didn't hassle me at all, didn't even ask for an explanation as to how the ammo got there. I was surprised, I think they may have had me pegged as military or LEO.

A friend of mine was disassembling a gun and had a spring shoot across the room. She looked everywhere for it, moved all the furniture, looked under the couch cushions ... no spring.
Six months later, her husband walked into the room and she saw him looking at the top of the curtains rather oddly. Asked what was wrong, he replied, "I think I may have found your missing spring." Yup, balanced on top of the valance.
(Not gun-related: I once worked as a carpenter's flunky for a man who continuously lost tools and other equipment. Was with him one day when he lost his tape measure -- which turned out to have been built into the wall behind the sheetrock. As far as I know, it's still there.)

Been there. I had the remote to my TV in my hand, and was looking all over for it. "What on earth is that black thing with gray and red blurs on it passing in front of my face every so often? " Wait a minute...it feels like plastic...*looks down* DOH!!!
Mind you I had been searching under pillows, the bed, around the TV, moving all kinds of stuff with it in hand. Next sad thing: I was 14! It hits early in my family... :( ;)
