Folks, I have looked darn near everywhere and, I can not find .410 loads priced anywhere near 12 ga. loads.

Any leads?

.410 is not a well used shell anymore, finding shells in the same price range as the widely used 12 guage is not going to happen. If you want cheap .410's better find yourself a reloader.

There are inexpensive .410 shells! Barnaul of Russia puts out both slugs and #3 shot .410 shells for $2.95 per 10. These are all-steel shells, by the way, no plastic. You can get 100 for $28.95 or 400 for $109.95 and that's from www.ammunitionstore.com whch I pulled right out of the current copy of Shotgun News. It's possible that Barnaul makes other shot sizes too. And Natchez Shooters Suppl has Sellier & Bellot .410 000 buck for $10.31 per 25 and 00 buck for $10.63 per 25. You just have to watch for these things in Shotgun News. Barnaul ammo is some of the best coming out of Russia.

In your own garage:neener:

Reloading never made so much sense as for the .410 and 28 guage. Components are CHEAP when you are loading such small payloads. Buying a reloader is a small investment, and one you can recoup in a heartbeat if you should decide to quit.

Otherwise, remember to pick up your hulls. They are gold, and you can recoup some of the cost of a box of factory loads.

The standard excuse for the high price of small gauge/bore loads is lack of demand. Still, a 3/4 oz load using less powder has to be cheaper to make than a 12 gauge generic load with an oz or 1 1/8 oz.IOW,it's so much hooie, they're overcharging because they can.

Current price on reloading my 12 gauge hulls runs about $2.80. Buying bigger cans of powder, wads and primers by the 5K lot, etc, would drive that down considerably. Bet 410s would come in under $2.25 if one has the hulls already. How many
boxes of shells would it take to offset the price of a MEC 600 JR, a scale and manual, and components?

Patterning and working up some tailored loads with premium, trap grade shot would give the anemic little 410 some moxie it badly needs.

Hmm, better ammo cheaper.....

Inexpensive & .410 don't go together. Same as inexpensive & 28 gauge.
