I am looking for a affordable (cheap) scope for a 10/22. The gun is just used to shoot empty cans and whatnot. I know nothing about scopes, except that I just want one that isn't complicated or expensive. Its just for fun.

Anyone know of any? Anything good at stores like WalMart? I'd prefr to keep price at $50 bucks.

I've used several Bushnell Sportviews on rifles, both rimfire and centerfire, and never had any complaints. I'm pretty sure Wallyworld carries them.

I had a large 4-16X Simmons on my 10/22T, which was overkill, so that got moved to an AR. I went with a Simmons 22 Mag Rimfire Series 3-9x32 for $33.
It's plenty of scope for my purposes on the 10/22. (got scope at Natchez online)

Ditto on the 4x Bushnell Sportviews. I've got them on my 10/22's and can pop golfballs at 100 yds. :)

NEtracker, I called up Natchez and they are out of stock. That $33 dollar price is right in my price range for the scope.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions of where to buy a Simmons 22 Mag Rimfire Series 3-9x32?

Or any other comparably priced scopes for a 10-22.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure wallymart sells Tascos in that price range.

I'm also in the market for a scope for the wife's 10/22. I have a 10/22 that I bought in 1981 and it has a Bushnell Sharpshooter scope from that era. We've been looking at Simmons and Bushnell 3-9x32 scopes since they seem to have a bunch of them available in the $30-$50 range. I'm really considering the Bushnell that I found for $39 in silver (her 10/22 is stainless). Anyway, just do an internet search with Yahoo! or Google and start surfing for the best price. Keep in mind shipping costs, too. I've seen shipping on the scopes running from $3 to $10 for the same scope from the same state.

Hi Lightsped,
Try Wholesale Hunter, they had it for $35.
Midway, $34.95.

I have to vote for the Simmons as well. I bought my first gun 14 years ago when I was only 12. I bought the gun and a Simmons 3-9X 32mm scope. That scope has seen more abuse then any scope ever should have to put up with. While I am sure a Leopold would be a better choice I could see not spending $200+ dollars for a scope when I bought my 10-22 for $129. Plus when you are only 12 years old coming up with that kind of cash can be tough. Get a Simmons unless you want it to survive 3 years in a beaver dam I am sure it will be a good choice.

I have this Bushnell scope on my 10/22:
http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/887219 It was $34.95 when I bought mine a little over a year ago. Still not a bad deal for a scope that includes rings!

Mine is mounted on a Weaver TO-9 rail that runs about $6 in most places.

I went ahead and ordered the Simmons 4x32 with Rings for $27 bucks from WholesaleHunter.

Now, I have a dumb question as I am not at all into scopes and have never bought one.

What is the difference/advantage/comparison of a 4x32 vs a 3x9x32 scope? The 10-22 is a fun gun that we shoot cans in the backyard with. We don't do anything serious with it.

4X is a fixed 4 power scope, 3-9 is a 3X to 9X variable, the 32 on both is the size of the objective lens, the front one. 3-9 variable is nice but not needed on a 22, I have a 4X fixed power on my 10-22 and it works great.
