I just got my 870 back from the gunsmith from hot blueing and where he put the barrel nut back on and where he put the magazine back to the receiver he used a gold colerd weld or solder, he done a great job but will this gold colerd solder hold up and what is it called, also why did he not use silver solder?

If its gold colored its probably silver BRAZE , much stronger than silver SOLDER. Brazing alloys melt at about 1100- 1300F, solders melt at about 400F. Ask the smith what he used.
