SOG's Makarovs-Any Thoughts?

It looks like SOG might have the last of the excellent condition Bulgie Maks for $130 and hand picked for $140. Has anyone ordered one these Bulgies? What's the true condition? I'm worried that if I order I'll get one with a damaged frame from a stiff safety.
Any pics would be appreciated.

Hello, sir. I flat don't know the answer to your question. The thread's link below concerns your very question, however.

I bought a SOG Bulgie Makarov for $129. I was actually kind of upset because I had sent my money in when it was listed at $109. I waited for months, and had to pay a "supplement" when the current order came in.
I looked at economic realities, realized that it was still a good deal, and sent my money in.
All that aside, I didn't pay the $10 dollar handpick fee. What I got was a basically unfired "cosmoline queen" with 100% bluing. After a complete teardown and cleaning, I took it shooting. It was a bit stiff, even more so than my PA-63. A few hundred rounds later, the action is mellowing, and the groups are getting smaller. I finally understood that, however many years after it was made, the gun was finally breaking in.
Other buyers on Mak websites have reported getting like-new to somewhat used guns. It's all in the luck of the draw. Since the Maks are generally high quality and wear well, I haven't heard many out-and-out complaints. At the price they're well worth it.

Thanks. I think I'm going to pay the extra $10 for a hand picked. Hopefully I'll have your luck and get a cosmo queen. ;)

It looks like the SOG Maks might be a crap shot. Some folks over at the Mak Forum reported getting really worn ones even when they paid for hand select.:(

I bought one about a month ago. It was a cosmoline queen. I paid the handpick fee for it. But I have no idea how it shoots because I haven't had the chance to bring it to the range yet.

I have read good and bad stories about SOG and Maks, but mostly good. I bought mine 5 months ago, paid the extra $10 and got one in cosmoline, looked unfired or just a few rounds. Bluing was great, no holster wear. Fires like a champ. Good luck, they are great little guns.

Heard of the good and bad stuff from all sorts of places so I was lucky to find a Bulgarian Mak at a show. Nothing beats handling a gun first, and checking out the NIB status, and then buying it for the same price as ordering, shipping, and transfering would be.
