I have heard people talk for years about getting some solvent into your bore when your done shooting and its still warm/hot from firing.

The other day I shot about 100 rounds in a swedish mauser and the bore was very warm. I ran a patch dwon the barrel soaked with FP10 and left it wet at the range.

I got home and cleaned the barrel about 2 hours later.

OMG!! This trick really works! I can not believe how much crap came out and how effortlessly.

I am going to make this a practice from not on.

What say you.....Do you start your cleaning on a warm bore? Does it help you?

Any chemical reaction will increase with temperature. (At least I think so! If I am wrong, please inform me)

Time is also a factor. That is why the 3 day method was so popular.

Look at your bore now. It may look pretty nasty. That is why the 3 day method is so popular.

It is probably not necessary, but it makes a lot of people happy.

I used that method to remove 50 years of copper racing stripes from Grandads M99. Shot enough to get the barrel pretty hot, plugged the chamber, filled up the bore with Hoppes, corked off the other end and left it for a couple days. Got must of the creepin' crud out.

Same thing for those using ultrasonic cleaners, warm cleaning solution works better than cold cleaning solution.

I also do this at home by putting just the barrel under hot water or in the oven just long enough that I can still handle the barrel.
