Removing tritium from sights

I've got kind of an odd ball project. I'm building an 8 bore muzzleloading express rifle and I'm trying to find a large tritium dot sight to use on the front. Nobody seems to make one that is suitable for my project so I plan on milling out a blank front sight and was wondering it it is/practical, possible to remove a tritium insert from a newly manufactured sight and place it inside my blank. I know very little about tritium sights, I have heard that there a small glass vile and have never heard of anybody trying to replace one. My first concern is whether it is safe, my next would be whether anybody just offers replacement inserts. Any help would be appreciated. I do realize that I could use a fiber optic sight and save lots of headaches, but it doesn't look traditional enough for my tastes. Thanks.

Call tooltech Gunsight at 248-628-1811 or e-mail them at tgunsight@aol.com ,

They should be able to install the insert in your sight for you in the color you want.
