I have seen several manufacturer's putting out the AR-15's with the carbon fibre receivers, does anyone have any experience or opinions of these?
Thanks

The standard aluminum is so light that I think it's a solution in search of a problem, but Cavalry arms makes some very nice lowers and I wouldn't turn my nose up at one. The color schemes are fun.

I've seen posts on AR15.com saying the Vulcan arms carbon/plastic recieviers are actually well made, in spec taking all standard parts, and stronger than the aluminum. Just so happens they're cheap too. $80 directly from the manufacturer. I plan on getting one to try.
Cav Arms has a pretty good rep. I've seen one but don't have any personal experiance with either of these.
I don't believe the Carbon-15 series now offered by Bushmaster is compatiable with standard AR parts but I'm not certain.
http://www.ar15.com/ for everything AR if you can wade through the BS.

Stay away from the Vulcan/Hesse stuff. The general current consensus at ar15.com is that they are a small step above junk.

In the Bushmaster catalog I just received they have their new Carbon 15 Model 4. This rifle is basically a Carbon 15 M4gery, which is compatible with standard AR parts. Catalog says the receiver is 3/4lb lighter than an aluminum one.
