Hi all,
Many of you have asked me to have an easy quiz. Just to see who can answer it first. Ok so here goes:
The First "Garand Semi-Automatic Rifle" was made in what caliber and how many rounds did it hold??
Try to give the really new guys a chance before to night then you all can jump in.
Lets say you older guys jump in after 6 PM East Coast time.

Hi all,
Sorry to say but as I have checked all the M1 Garand sites I post to NO ONE in ANY of those groups is correct. That means 100 PERCENT WRONG!!!
You guys will just have to check your BOOKS and get the answer CORRECT.
Have fun. Remember, you all asked for an easy one, well this is it.

.256,--a slightly smaller bore-- but still 10-round. IIRC, the slightly smaller casehead made 10 work better as first designed than it *would have* with the .30-06.

Hi all,
That's why I have two books out already with nothing but Ordnance files that have all the answers. Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 cover Project 5 (the M1 Garand) code at SA and Ordnance. No one buys the books so I just post data to help you guys.
It's all the Ordnance files by date on the M1 Garand, it has stuff no one has seen before it only took my 30 years of research to find it.

If by the first 'garand semi automatic rifle' you mean the first semi automatic rifle designed for the military by Mr Garand (1920), I'd say it was a primer actuated rifle taking a 20 or 30 round detachable box magazine and chambered for the standard US 30 caliber cartridge (30'06).

Hi all,
Garand's primer activated T1920 was a .30-06 and used 20 round BAR mags. The rifle was built in 1920. Is the correct answer.
Hope all of you have a Happy Holiday Season.

Nope, haven't visited any other forums. I might have (accidentally mind you) noticed Canfields book had fallen open to page 17 though :D

And yes, you did pose a trick question didn't you!

musher,
I would say more of the history of the M1 Garand and yes maybe with a trick in it.
Hope you and yours have a Happy Holiday Season.
Thanks again
Clancy
