Torres also warned that the recall implications could ripple across the country and come back to hurt the GOP. Calling it a partisan attack on the democratic process and a legal election held just four months ago, he said, "If this is the way Republicans are going to play politics in America, then any governor will be subject to this approach."
If find that hilarious. When I moved to Santa Barbara in the mid-90s, I had a different Birkenstock wearing hippie at my door weekly for a couple of months asking me to sign a petition to recall Pete Wilson. Talk about glass houses and stones....
I should also mention, the recall effort was taking place mostly because of Proposition 187, the California proposition to end affirmative action. It passed in a LEGAL ELECTION (see Torres' quote above) by some 70%. The Democrats complained and had it repealed. A double instance of the pot calling the kettle black (I'm in a metaphorical mood today :) ).

I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to convince my college's faculty union to "do the right thing" and support the recall drive, to make up for their endorsement of Davis in 2002.
It's a fat chance they'll do that, but their credibility and ethics are demonstrably suspect, and I'm hoping this will affect their membership.
I don't join organizations, I infiltrate them!

What you should do is have your friend save his electricity bills up, and take a look at them again...
Then he'd be ready to sign..
Let's see, the PRK pays 4x the price for energy... why? Oh, that's right..
Davis.
Hmm... I'm going to think up a nickname for him... Someone that would fit... Suggestions?
Please make no references to female dogs etc.. as that is only insulting female dogs...

How about Red 'Gray-out' Davis as a fitting nickname ? ?
Fits him well, doesn't it?
