I have a chance to buy an older preban Taurus PT99 in mint condition. It is an early 90's model. Would this gun be better (or worse) then a new PT99?? It does not have the decocker. Everyone give me pros and cons please..

i don't know if you tested out the new Taurus with decocker but it looks like it's not a very well thought out design. I imagine someone that wants to use it cocked and locked will push it down too far in a moment of stress and decock their pistol, that's not great but what is even worse is think if you're accidentally pressing on the decocker while you're pulling the trigger, that's not going to be very productive is it?

But a decocker is a nice luxury, especially if you're just going double action and not cocked and locked. so here's the way it goes

If you shoot double action get the new model
If you prefer cocked and locked get the older model

anyway you go it's still not a Beretta :p

no,it's not a beretta.

but, the safety is in the right place(on the frame) ;)

I,own 1 of the pre-decocker models, and prefer it over the decockers.

i've fired the newer ones and didn't find myself riding the lever

but, could see it happening in a high stress scenario.

just my $.02
