1911 Build in progress

I am going to build a 1911 and would like any input on what everyone likes and has worked for them. I am using a Rock River Arms frame and slide; 5 “ with double serrations. Other than that, I am open to suggestions on all parts and the final finish of the pistol. I like Wilson Combat because they manufacture quality parts (from what I have seen) and their prices are better than other custom manufacturers.
Please give me some ideas for my project. This gun will be primarily a CCW, but I will use it to shoot IDPA.
Thanks for your input,
James S.

Also look into Ed Brown parts. Great quality parts. Look into the memory groove beavertail. :)

That was the plan with the Ed Brown memory groove beaver tail safety. I like the write up on that part and have yet to talk with someone who has put this safety to practical use.
Thanks for the input.

I installed the Brown GS and am very happy with it. I bought the jig they sell also and while it helped with the installation, I think it could have been better - of course, since this was my first one its more likely user error. ;) (I mean, it was user error.)
I also used the Brown hardcore hammer and sear and am very happy with those as well. The Brown ejector required the notch to be filed for the pin. The Brown trigger required some fitting as well, but not much.
If I had to find any downsides to any of the Brown parts I've used I think it would have to be with the disconnect (a little long) and the face of the trigger, which was kind of sharp. I had to smooth off some of the serrations on the trigger face and around the hole of the overtravel adjustment screw.
Best of luck with your project. I'm thinking of doing the same with either a Caspian or Les Baer frame/slide combo.

I've used Ed Brown parts to rebuild two pistols with nary a problem.

A few years ago I built a 1911 from scratch on a 80% frame. I purchased most of the parts from Brownells and CDNN. I used primarily Wilson parts for the hammer, sear, internals and Ed Brown for the beavertail, mainspring housing. Wolff Springs all around. Take lots of pictures!
