I used to want a .357Sig handgun. Until the FN 5-7 came along. Anyone feel the same way?

Alot of it is personal opinion. Different tools for the job.
I like both, so, own both....
There will never be a one size fits all handgun, it willl be personal preference till we are long gone (unless of course the ray gun comes to light in our lifetime)

For personal defense, the two dont come close. .357 is clearly the better one.
If you fear your attackers will be weaking body armor, go with the 5.7mm.
Both have two completely different purposes, and neither can do the job of the other.
My best advice- Get both like UK. :)

The 5.7mm pushes about a 23gr bullet at about 2600fps
the .357sig pushes about a 125gr bullet at about half that speed
A projectile that weighs 5 times as much but going half the speed will still hit harder and do more damage then the light weight little 5.7mm
On a side note, a .22 magnum is about a 40gr bullet at about 1400fps
5.7mm is NOT a self defense round any more then .22mag.
The only "defense" use of the 5.7mm is using the AP rounds that us serfs are not allowed to have and shooting at targets wearing kevlar. And it works best when followed by a half dozen shots, full auto, out of an FN P90.
Get the .357sig if you want a self defense gun.
