I am looking for a 1911 carry setup and I want to know if you guys know of a manufacturer that can fit teh bill.
Compact grip like that of a Kimber compact.
4" barrel I love Kimber's bull barrel
single action
bobbed or smaller hammer
and that big horn for the hammer either removed or smaller in some way.
I love my Kimber compact I. Its great but I want to make it more carry friendly by having less of a spike going into my side.
I read about the new Para Carry that fits the above bill nicely however I dont want DAO. My only experience with Para is my brother's much older P14 that is in bad shape when he got it used. How are the LDA trigger action??

You are looking for a .40 cal Sig 239. I used to carry a steel frame Kimber compact untill I found the Sig.

Sounds like you like the Kimber. I'm not quite sure what you meen by "spike in your side" tho. If you want a bobbed hammer, just replace the one on the Kimber.

I, too, carry the Kimber compact. Mine has the standard grip safety and the rounded hammer. I carry it in a Milt Sparks Summer Special. Those have a leather extension on the inside to go between your side and the gun. Works well for me. The only real things I have done to mine were to add night sights and undercut the frontstrap just in back of the trigger guard. This small rounding makes the short grip feel like a bigger one to my big mits (or sets the gun just a little lower to the hand.) Good luck with yours.

Any good gunsmith can install a different hammer and/or grip safety for you at relatively modest cost. Keep your Kimber Compact and have a gunsmith make it how you want it.
Personally, I like beavertail safeties. Is it possible that what you really want is a different holster? A holster with a sweatshield will also help keep the beavertail safety from digging in to your side. Or you could just use an OWB holster...

M1911 took the words right out of my mouth, er, fingers. Sounds like more of a holster problem than anything. If you like your Kimber but don't like the way it carries, try some new holsters before ditching it.
I also didn't understand the "big horn for the hammer," thing. Could you clear this up? Customizing hammers isn't hard nor are they expensive. More details?
