Found one for sale on another non-gun message board. They described it as a "like new. used a couple times only. $500 or best offer". It kind of bothers me that they took a pic of it sitting in mostly dirt but from what I understand these are milled receivers. The one I could find on gunbroker to compare prices was $579 and it had an ugly stock.

Since it's out of state I would get stuck with shipping and ffl fees but I've never seen them in stores around here, so I have no idea what they go for.

I don't know about the price. Seems probably reasonable to slightly high. Not sure what the current market is for them.

I did own one purchased new however. And while I haven't seen every AK-type, I have seen many. And this is the best of those I have seen. Everything on it is milled. Just a higher quality than usual AK-type rifle.
Sold mine to raise money for a National Match M1A or would still have it.

I definitely want to add a milled receiver AK to my collection. I'm starting to shy away from this one though because since it's post-ban the muzzle brake is permanently attached and it doesn't look like there is any cleaning rod (The look of an AK without a cleaning rod bugs me).

Anyone know how permanent these muzzle brakes usually are? I wonder if it's possible to remove it somehow and still have a nice threaded barrel underneath.

For a little more you can get a new "no ban" one.

The Arsenal SLR's were the best quality AK's ever imported.
The barrels are hammer-forged and chrome-lined on equipment the Bulgarians bought from the Austrian Steyr company.

The combination of a hardened, milled receiver, the hard, hammer-forged barrel, and the chrome lining, makes for a nearly indestructible rifle of VERY high quality.

Supposedly, due to the very hard, hammer-forged and chrome-lined barrel, the barrel has a service life of around 25,000 rounds.

Accuracy on most SLR's is usually around 2" at 100 yards, for a good shot.

Reliability is 100%.

The muzzle brake is pressed on and held by two cross pins.
Some of these come off with no trouble at all, others are on so tightly, they have to be cut off.
However, they DO come off, and with no damage to the muzzle.

There is no cleaning rod on the rifle, but there is one in the factory box.
This follows Bulgarian military practice, since many Bulgarian military AK-47s didn't have an attached cleaning rod.

The price, "depending" on the actual condition is very good, especially considering the quality of the rifle.

Bottom line is, if you want a GOOD AK, the Bulgarian SLR is as good as it gets.
I've never heard of anyone who was disappointed in one of these. and I'm certainly satisfied with mine.

Well, he sold it already. I should of thought less and just bought it! I'm sure another at a similar price will come up sometime.

Ive seen new ones selling for 40 bucks more...with the added shipping and other costs, the price may be up there.500 sounds marginal for a used one not inclusive of shipping and other costs.

the latest www.gunsnstuff.net has them in their catalog.
