45 Super

I have a Colt GM that I've thought about converting to 45 Super for limited shooting. Any reason I can't just put in a Wolff 28# recoil spring, appropriate firing-pin spring, shock buffer, and be good to go? I know Ace says it won't work but they don't say why; seems they just want the $250 for their conversion kit.
Anybody tried this or have any thoughts?

I think the safety issue is due to the fact that many chambers are not fully supported. I "suspect" (do not recommend) that a barrel with a fully supported chamber, plus your suggested mods would work.

The Ace conversion uses the original barrel. The support comes from using 45 Super brass, which has a much thicker web than standard 45 acp brass. My real concern is excessive frame battering and timing problems.
