Just curious! reading thru I can see many references to my sorta age group .... 58th birthday is imminent!! Also tho I can see many younger guys too, which is good.

Without givin away any great secrets, just vote in the poll if you would ... to see what our age spread here is, in a relative sense.

I know we manage to share a wealth of opinion and knowledge here, and it is not always us ''ole farts'' who know best either!!:)

I wonder if the distribution is more a function of internet use than gun ownership? I think that does have some bearing yeah ...... but on other hand, I am pleasantly surprised at how many in older age groups are in fact using puters. I work on one all the time so .... not unusual for me.

Thus far with near 300 votes we have an approx 7.5% sample . not bad, and probably indicative of the most active portion of the board's membership.

As far as being representative of overall gun ownership .. I daresay there are in fact many over 40 who are not on line and members, to add their votes but overall I am well pleased with the response, and do feel it has given a fair ''flavor'' of distribution .. remarkably even in some ways I'd say.

Thx to all.:)

P95Carry

OK ... we're near 8 months on from when I kicked this one off ........ and having noticed what seems like a gazillion new members since then ..... felt like giving it a nudge again.

No need for people to have to post as such but .. if you have a moment to vote on the poll, please do. As of the last post I made above ....... the ''20-30'' age group had the top score ... daresay that is about same now ... but more votes will increase the sample size, which is always good.

Now you know what's awaiting you - I read that 58 as 56. I'll give you a bit of slack on the "spring" part - can we agree on, er , "autumn"? ;)

Major suggestion: If you can now, and definitley when you reach Medicare time - and if it's still in the goodie locker - get the eyes fixed. Had one eye done a month back and next week the other. There is a whole bunch of difference between the two right now - clear, brighter colors, focused against clouded, brown/grey/yellowish, fuzzy (my current peephole eye). I'm told that it'll be 20/20 shortly and glasses only for up close reading.

I will enjoy seeing the targets again the way they really look. Maybe I can hit them, too.

And YES, we need all the youngns we can muster - they are the (very near) future.

I both amazes and inspires me when after reading several intelligent posts from members here to learn that they are still mid-teenagers.

It gives me hope for the future of our sport, our hobby and our country.

The internet can be a great equalizer because I judge my fellow THRers by their writings and not by their appearances or ages.
Sometimes I regret that we really don't have any face to face contact here and that sometimes it's difficult to understand the "tone of voice" used in some posts. (Emoticons help but sometimes aren't enough.) But the advantage of faceless communications is a lack of stereotypes and prejudices.

I was lucky to have grown up in an area that was both gun friendly and willing to pass the heritage along to the youngsters. That area is now available to everyone via THR.

I am thankful for the adults that schooled me when I was young and shared their knowledge with me and I welcome the opportunity to pass that knowledge along to the next generations.

Somedays on THR I find things that excite me.
Somedays on THR I find things that agner me.
Somedays on THR I find things that make me go HMMMMM?!?!?!
But everyday on THR I find things that make me thankful it exists.

I have said for years that "Knowledge is like Love, it's usless to have unless you can share it with someone."

Let's hope we can continute to share the love for a very long time.

To my fellow THR bretheren, young and old, I salute you.

To my fellow THR bretheren, young and old, I salute you. Backatcha Blue Bear. :)

It would be good yeah ... to have some sorta visual face-to-face .... and like you I am frequently surprised by the maturity of words written by our young members ... more than a little reassuring.

We do tho maybe enjoy something of a ''leveller'' in THR ... we are, each and every one after all .... a ''person'' ... a sentient being ... and thus appearance and age per se ... matter little. The exchange of thinking tho is often invaluable.

PS: 13 on the short end up to 85 on top - that's one heck of a demographic.

Thirty-six here (or is that 30-06?), although next week will add to that total.

The individual parts are more interesting...

My heart and lungs work like a 22-year old's.
My lower back is like a 50-year old's.
My hearing is like a 70-year old's. (WEAR THOSE PLUGS!)

Most days I feel younger than I am.
Somtimes I feel my age.
Once in a great while, I feel much older.

So far, so good! :)
