1st time I had taken apart any revolver. Man, it was intimidating taking apart my 646 to give it a really good bath. It started binding after I had used some particularly dirty ammo. Now I see why. Lots of very very small nooks and crannies. When I 1st got it appart I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it back together.

I turned out to be all bark and no bite however. All it took was one punch and the screwdrivers to get it back together good as new. Definately would NOT want to try to improve the trigger with my meager tools and skills.

I was able to find how to get the sideplate off by searching old posts, so thanks for those posts guys :)

I am glad to hear of another poster taking the same kind of plunge I did.

It ain't rocket science to take one apart and put it back together again!

I felt the same way about trying to improve the trigger because it would be easy to do something wrong.

But, if you get a $20 moly lube kit you can take it apart, treat the parts, and experience a huge improvement in the slickness of the mechanism. Its a pleasant evenings effort.

Hmm, hadn't thought of the moly lube idea. My Taurus 455 Ti could really use some slicking up and I bet that would help. I tore it down and cleaned it out good last night too and got the last of the sand (!?!?!) out that been in the action when I got the gun. It should be more reliable now.

Nopefully the grit didn't do any irreperable damage. I'll look into getting one of those moly lube kits as well.
