I'm looking at an LA22 Erma Luger .22 at $200. Between the Erma and the competing Stoeger one of them had problems with soft metal but I can't remember which.

Can anyone give me an opinion on the quality of the Erma Luger .22?

Thanks, Herb

I've got two Stoegers.....can't say I've ever heard of "soft metal" or ever had a problem with either of them....great shooters. Stoegers had aluminum frames where the Erma was all steel.

I got a Stoeger Luger just last week for $150. It's a fun little gun. From the reading I've done, it seems that the Stoeger's are more reliable, whereas the Ermas actually look more like Lugers. I can only imagine that the soft metal problem refers to the Erma, since as Rembrandt said the Stoeger frame is aluminum.

I know that this thread is very old but :
I have an Erma EP22 which I would like to her break down. Does anyone have directions?
Some one had some long ago are they still out there?
I just tried to fire it but seem to have a broken fireing pin as there is no dent on the rim.
Any thoughts?
Thanks so much, wife would like to go to the range and fire and it seems that it would make a nice weapon for her to shoot .
