I did post a question at the CZ forum, but there seems to be little traffic. So I am hoping someone here will be of help. I have been increasingly interested in the CZ 550 FS. How well does the stock hold up overall(weather-shooting-storage wise)? How about the sights, are they accurate of good for shots under 200 yards? Could you explain the set trigger, is it like that on the 527 carbine?
Thanks

Can only comment on the set trigger (I have a 550 American in 6.5x55). All I need to say about the set trigger is that it is about as sweet as a virgin's honey pot. From a hunting perspective it's only useful if you're taking a longer range shot that gives you the time to activate it before firing. I never got to use that feature on my deer hunt earlier this year. But for range work it is sooooo nice. Just push that trigger forward with you thumb, and when ready to fire, just brush it with your index finger.

I picked the 550 American over the FS for a couple reasons. I wanted the longer barrell (23.6 vs 20ish) and I'm not much of a fan of the Mannichler sytle stock.

Dunno about their iron sights as the American model comes without them. But Kim duToit (http://www.kimdutoit.com/dr/weblog.php?id=P1609) sure seems to like the irons on his 550 Lux (also 6.5x55).

I've got two CZ527 rifles with the set trigger feature. I measured the pull weight of the set trigger at 15 ounces - as adjusted by the factory. Really helps with those long shots.
