I was wondering for any central Texans (Temple, Belton) if there was any CHL classes you'd recommend. Ideally, it would have photo and fingerprinting available at the premises. The place I took the CHL course 4 years ago is out of business. Any leads? Thanx in advance.

I would also reccommend KRTraining. Karl has a small private training range out in Lincoln,TX. He also has a network of local trainers that can be scheduled through him. He also has guest training come in from around the country such as Rangemaster & Insights, etc.
I will need to do a CHL renewal in 2005 and I will schedule a class through him.

Might be worth your time to drive to Austin to turn in your renewal application at the DPS headquarters. They can do your fingerprints there and there would be no chance of your prints being rejected. Heard that is not uncommon when done at some other places.

KR Training sounds like something I need to look into soon (their classes fill quickly). Red's only has Wednesday classes (hard for me to take off work during the weekday) for January. Thinking about asking if Weber's in Temple has classes, Tiger Valley east of Waco.
Alamo, thanks for the suggestion regarding the fingerprints. Hadn't even thought about that alternative source of fingerprints.

You might need an excuse to come down to Austin anyway. You can pay the renewal of your license on-line at the DPS website and download all the forms if they weren't mailed to you. After you take your class, have all your paperwork in order and notarized and then you can get fingerprinted at the DPS and turn everything into to them in person. I think you have to pay $10 or 15 dollars for the prints. Might save a bit of time getting your license back too.

you can go to this address on the Texas DPS /CHL web page and search zip codes in your area for an instructor.

I seem to recall several with Belton and Temple addresses but can't think of them right now. There are a lot of them in waco including one class that operates out of the OutHouse on Franklin Avenue. It has a classroom and indoor range and is not too far off I35.
Stay away from the one on Richie Drive.

I went over to Weber's Gunshop in Temple. They have a CHL class (new licensee) on Jan 8, 2005. They told me to call back next week to see when they were having their renewel classes (hopefully the week after). They told me they will have photos and fingerprinting. Hopefully it won't be cold and rainy by then :)
