All,
I got the new CDN catalog on Saturday. They are offering $289 for an amount of 5 - 10 purchase of M model handguns. Is anyone out there interested? I have been thinking of getting my hands another, and if we could get a FFL dealer to receive then ship to our local FFL dealers for free this might work out to save us all a few bucks.
I have a FFL Dealer here in Atlanta, Ga area willing to receive guns for me for $10.
Anyone ???? Anyone ?????

EVERYBODY DOWN, INCOMING!!!!!!!!
:D
Just having a little fun. Do a search on the Steyr's either here or over at TFL and you will see what I mean.
Twoblink, Handy....to your corners. I want this to be a fair fight with no low blows. When the bell sounds come out swinging.

Got an M40 which has shot the first 300 rounds without a hitch (ball and hollowpoints (SXT)). The gun feels great in my hand and points well.
Can't really comment on accuracy since I'm not a very good shot... yet :)
The sights take some getting used to but once you do they aquire fast.
I'm completely satisfied with the purchase so far and at less than $300 I would say they are a good deal.
Just be sure that they have the updated trigger.
Do the research here and on TFL, if you feel that the gun will not be safe in your hands don't buy it. I don't have a CCW so I'm not concerned with carrying it around with one in the chamber. I personally feel that the gun is safe under proper care and handling.
Gluck!

Do you know if they will mix and match the M series pistols? I would be interested in the 357SIG version if so.

I like them. They are medium size 9mm or .40 cal handguns with little to no recoil due to good ergonomics of design. They are capable of the fastest double taps I can do because of a half trigger set, light (6pd est) pull and above mentioned ergos. Easy to strip, fun to shoot, I like the trapezoidal sights, ambi saftey, lightweight.
I have owned or shot just about every gun there is. Here is the list. The Styers are my favorite so far. I will keep it as my rep 9mm.
Smith 66 .357
Taurus 92fs 9mm
Beretta 96 Border Patrol 9mm
Springfield Loaded .45
CZ 85 9mm
Ruger GP100
The Steyr is easiest to shoot and clean. Cheaper. Downside no fac hicaps. Limited support and fan base.
I love mine. Some people hate them and think they are unsafe. I dont feel that way.

Here's a good read over at Pete Jordan's site.

Make sure they have the new trigger and find out what the serials are. At some point (around 008XXX maybe???) they changed the angle that the spent round is extracted so they don't hit you in the face (so I have heard). I'd be interested in going in on this, but I have a couple more months before an FFL will sell me a pistol (damn age limits). Let me know how it goes with them though, I may order from them when I am finally old enough...

I'd be interested, sent you an Email. I believe Sigma hi caps will fit with new notch cut.:) Seem to be having trouble getting an E through to the address you have listed. Yahoo is saying you do not have account there. Sent it twice, twice denied.:banghead:

I paid $499 for mine the first day it came out.. So that is a seriously good price.
That said...
What do you need to know about the Steyr that I have not covered in some 80+ pages of reply to the topic?? :D
Two major items to look for:
First, the trigger job. Somewhere around #0010xxx
Second, the ejection port. See if it's the one that will prevent "brass in face".
There's a new importer, so support problems are taken care of.
At the risk of starting yet ANOTHER Steyr debate.. do a search on the Steyr here and on TFL. I _might_ have the record on TFL for the longest post ever concerning the Steyr.
When I get back to the states, I'll probably buy another M40, and maybe a 3rd one for the Mrs. and Probably an S40 (the compact version) to go with it. Unlike the HK's the magazines are compatible (simpler logistics!) and I'm very familiar with that gun.
I am going to be fair and take the first shot however; some people are concerned with the Safety System of the Steyrs. If you are one of them, I don't recommend you buy one.

Here is the scoop on this buy.
We can mix and match M series pistols, but only the 9mm and the .40, no .357 SIG can be included. (Sorry)
The guns are all later serial number (post 8000) and all have the trigger fixes completed.
They are sadly maked with GSI and new imported. The GSI logo has been scorched of somehow. Not the most beautiful look.
We can also do a mass puchase of mags at a discounted price. I am waiting for more info from sales rep.
Once again, email if interested. I would like any advice on how to pull this off.

Damn, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. These sound like early serial numbers not sold by GSI..8000 is not a late number on these pistols. GSI logo sanded off! You can order a new one with trigger mod and extraction fix thru Davidsons for 299, 399 for a 357. By the time you pay shipping to a dealer, plus his fee, you are going to be at 350?? Order a new one for the same price!! Would like to hear the Paul Harvey on this one.:uhoh:

twoblink...not that I don't immediately believe everything you say, ;) but when people say that there is a new importer, I never see any official quote from Steyr-Mannlicher.
I understand you can get parts fom Canada, but is that it?

Aw shucks (regarding the 357SIG), I already had my eye on an XD and a SIGPRO and since I already have an M40 I guess I'll get those instead. Variety - the spice of life? ;)

I am sure it is a fine pistol. I like Steyr products (Note the nick). I just dont need (or want, there IS a difference there) another 9mm. Two Brownings and the lil CZ 75D are enough for me.

I think an outfit called Zanders is the importer now, don't know if they are in Canada or not

Both are selling new guns with the same features.
My local dealer got 4 in each of 9 mm and 40 from Davidson's and I inspected them. None have serial numbers below something like 19,xxx. All are new and have the trigger upgrade. None og the 9 mm have the extraction fix. All of the 40s have the extraction fix. Al of the 40s had the marked out GSI import marks and were remarked with the new import marks. All of the 9 mm had the new import marks.
I called CDNN and asked them to check what they had on hand. It sounded like theirs had the same mix of features.

Zanders is suppose to be the official importer;
http://www.gzanders.com/
Although their webpage does not reflect that (yet).
If worst comes to worst, you can email the good doctor, and have him take care of you.. :D He sent Oleg a new spring for my Steyr..

Due to a lack of intelligence (or interest ... your call.) the Group Purchase of Steyr M model hadnguns will be cancelled. My recomendations to the very wise, intelligent and wonderful folks that expressed interest would be to contact CDNN direct and have your friendly local FFL dealer accept a handgun for you. That is what I am planning on doing.
To all the others ... your missing out on a great piece.
