What is your first planned firearm purchase for 2005?

We had a thread about your last purchase for 2004. In the spirit of looking ahead and thoughtful planning, what is your first planned purchase for 2005? Have you even thought about it? If not, why not? :what:

For me, I have a 3rd generation Glock 23 on layaway. It came with three drop-free normal capacity magazines (rare here in the People's Commonwealth) and was a spur of the moment decision.

It will push my planned purchase of a Walther G22 rifle back to second. Unless a good condition, quality S&W turns up.

edited to add: Imean an old S&W. There is nothing in their new offerings which I am interested in.

I don't know yet, but the SHOT Show is at the end of January this year. I'm sure there will be some new models that will interest me. I hope...

G26 vs. AR vs. 625 vs. Benelli M1

(I'm only allowed one gun a year by the Minister of Retiring by age 50).

Maybe I'll wait for the SHOT show as well.

I re-Glocked myself today, actually. I picked up a 3rd-gen G22 with 3 15-round mags in great condition for $450.

I got it at the Manchester Firing Line (http://www.gunsnh.com) and the gentlemen behind the counter even gave me 15 round for free to test it out right there on the spot, further proof that Jim McCloud and his staff are the best! :D

I'm going to finally get going on my PCR-8 Mag project. I'm going to order the upper and build my own lower. Just need that $800 in the bank to spare. I should be able to do it in 2005, but my credit cards will probably come first. Anyone want to buy a CZ 550 Varmit Laminated to help fund the project ;)

It's currently in layaway, but...

1980 S&W 66-1 with pinned and recessed cylinder, stainless, Bill Jordan grips and "target" sights, slightly used police turn in with bright prominent rifling, a minimum of scorching on the cylinder face, and minimal .38spl ring.

I'll bring it home, polish it to mirror, and give it a name. Well, 2 of the 3 are true. I don't even name my cars :) Ok, that's not.... anyways...

My first purchase will be the CZ SP-01 as soon as it comes out. I want the "Tactical" model as they are calling it. That is the one with the decocker. It will be the big brother to my P-01 and those who have been issued one for testing and evaluation are reporting that it holds 19 rounds!!! I have been saving money for this one since I heard it was coming.

Possible purchases in 2005 should the money and opportunity present itself. I hope to at least end up with one from this list.

CZ 452 Varmint in .17 HMR
CZ 527 Varmint in .223 -or some other nice bolt action .223
CZ PCR
Steyr M9

I also want to convert one of my 10/22's to .17 HM2

It is going to be a great year. I wish all the best to THR members in 2005.

December 27, 2004, 03:02 PM
Then some form of a Hd shotty either a Hk or a mossy..

Since HK is only importing Merkel shotguns now, I'm guessing you're referring to either one of the Benellis or fabarms which is still kinda accociated with the name becasue of past associations they had. Either way, there's no comparison between either and the mossy. Unless you compare a Benz and a Renault. :p

Now then, Not 100% decided but it's looking like the next purchase will be a HK P2000sk in 9mm. Will be picking up a AcuSport Bisley in .44 on Sat or Mon but it's already paid for. Maybe a Ruger PC9GR too.

Either way, regardless of the decisions made, I just hope that everyone has a safe and happy new year. :)

Know it will be another Browning action 45ACP. In last 4 yrs I have had first one sort of off the shelf by this Cdn pistolsmith & then next made to my specs. Narry a bit of problem from either though I use them both extensively twice a week & basically every week of the years.

So will be doing the same only do not have it all figured out as to EXACTLY what I want & how I want it done. No rails for lights & such while I still stick with Bo-Mar iron sights. Good checkering is important to me & this chap does beautiful work.

You can spot his work at www.dlask.com & you might find it interesting for buying from the States is almost impossible for us Candians, otherwise it would be one of the best in the same way.

My last purchase of 2004 is going to consume the gun budget for a while. A custom pre 64 Model 70 is the goal, with very nice wood stock and engraving accents ( nothing flashy just bolt handle, and grip caps ).

Next purchase is a Krieger barrel, then barrel accesories like barrel band swing swivel, standing quarterib, and front sight, followed by a stock blank.

Only thing that would get me motivated right now would be the right commercial mauser action (1910-1930 ish) showing up, and that has dim odds. A very nice Swede would spark some interest also.

Hmm. A Garand is comng very soon. As is an AR15 of some variety. Possibly another .308 MBR. A .308 bolt. A J-frame. And maybe another Kahr. Not sure which oreder it will occur in. Probably the Garand first.

Smith and Wesson 1076.

my first 10mm...I'm so excited!
After that, it will either be an evil black rifle (probably of the Kalashnikov persuasion) or a Mauser M2 in .40S&W as my dedicated carry piece.

Not sure which will come forst. I already have a couple OK carry pieces and 0 evil rifles. Do I continue to lug around either a full size handgun (or a Makarov with extra mag) and get the rifle OR do I buy the Mauser as they aren't real common right now and rumor has it that Sig may be dropping them.

I have wanted a nice Garand for some time and think 05 will be a good time for it after that it will probably whatever catches my eye or a good deal. I am also looking at a Ruger 77 target in .204. I like the gray finish and just "need" one.
FPrice, to fund some of these new purchases I am letting some revolvers go. Among them are some S&W 29's and a couple 57's. All very nice, most with case and papers. As I really don't want to get rid of them they won't be cheap as most have been fired very little.

Most likely a heavy barreled Savage in .308, preferably a 12BVSS-S or 12FV-S (single shot) but only if i can find those for the same or not much more than a repeater action, if not then i'll go for a repeater version of the above, but if a good deal on a 10FP that i can upgrade a bit comes along that would be highly tempting.
I intend to eventually use this gun for the local 600yard prone "any/any" matches.

but all gun buying of all sorts is on hold till after i get my automotive situation in line (car is dying and i WILL be replacing it ASAP!). then and only then will i be able to look at buying new "range toys".

A Marlin 1895 in 45-70 was ordered and paid for the last week of December, 2004. I took delivery the first week of January, 2005. It was simultaneously the last purchase of 2004 and the first of 2005!

Unless someone can talk me out of it for quality reasons, my first firearm purchase of '05 and first firearm purchase ever will probably be a CIA SAM 1911 .45...anyone think it's a waste of money? I found one for a really low price.

If I don't buy that, I'll probably buy a Glock (can't decide which model yet) at the gun show coming up week after next.

Probably some sort of 12 gauge. I also have my eye on a Beretta .32 and the Walther G22. So many guns, so little cash! :(

Mine was not planned, but it was a Sig P225 from CDNN. Ordered it last Tuesday and picked it up on Friday. Now I have enough pistols for a little while longer.

Still waiting on an M4... Colt? RRA? Anyone have some without ridiculous markups?

My first purchase of 2005 was/is (I have a deposit down on it) a Marlin 1894C in .357 Magnum. Hopefully it will arrive this week!

Beyond that, my wish list is pretty short. I need a pump shotgun, other than that I'm pretty happy for now.

I'm so poor that I have no reason to contemplate a purchase...I'm still hurting from my last one. I graduate in May, then head to Okinawa/Japan for a few weeks, then I'll have to see how the job hunt goes. I'd like to have a S&W 625, and I've got an itch for an AR. Of course, I also have a deep love for the P7 and USP.

No idea :scrutiny:

Mine wans't exactly planned, but I've been wanting an AK clone for about a year now.

Finally gave in and got a decent deal on a Romanian WASR last week.

Waiting on the 75 round drum to show up this week.

How do you like it? I saw one cheap and halfway considered picking it up, but I figured a CCW handgun should first.

S&W 627 (5" Performance Center .357mag)

Technically I bought it in 2004 but thanks to our ludicrous laws I can't pick it up for another week or two.

Was going to be a completed lower for the AR I have been working on forever...until an M1 Carbine got in the way. Oh well....

The plan for this year is:

Benelli Super Black Eagle
DPMS Panther Lite
CZ Rami 9mm
Tikka T3 Varmint, 22-250
Kadet kit for CZ75B
Ruger Deerfield 44 Magnum

If I manage that and still have any money left over:

Ruger Redhawk, .44 Magnum
Marlin 1894C, .357 Magnum
Ruger SP101, concealed hammer

Edit: This thread got me thinking, and I ordered the Kadet kit this evening.

HungSquirrel:

I am taking it out to the range tomorrow if the weather holds. Got the 75 round drum today!

Mine is one of the 'new' no-bans, and it's a very nice example with matching laminated wood stocks, no canted sights or GB. Very nice gun, I'm pretty happy with it.

Mine wasn't planned. I saw a deal on a Beretta 92 Vertec that I just couldn't pass on. Got it yesterday.

I just made my first purchase of the year today - a Glock 36. I hadn't planned on buying one, but once I fondled it I simply couldn't resist.

The influence of the dark side is powerful indeed.....

I don't really have any planned purchases, rather I have a long wishlist that gets continually put off as I impulse-buy somehting I didn't know I really really wanted :D

So far I've bought a ruger single six, a ruger bisley in .22, a smith M19-4, and sold the single-six to my brother.

So far three pre-1898 M-39s, an 1894 Chatterault, an 1895Tula and an 1897 Sestroretsk, an H&R M1 Garand and a Swedish Mauser 96B Oberndorf. Hope to get an M4gery built in the next month or so. Doing my part for the economy. :)

Fondled the Walther G-22 and it's now a unexpected passenger of my faster than life credit file, remembered why I used to covet my neighbors M21, and have decided that instead of a big wish list, I'll save up for one and let SA make me a very happy man. I'm sure that the new M25 will keep my wife from speaking at me for at least a month :uhoh:

From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

from selfishness to complacency;
from complacency to apathy;

I swear I didn't plan it honey..... :D ...was just out picking up a mess of reloading supplies at GM last Sunday....stopped by the firearms section to , look things over... :scrutiny: Saw a Bersa Thunder .380 Duo-tone, handled it....liked it.....regular price was $199...got it for $179 with an extra mag and an Uncle Mike's holster...

Would really love to get or build an AR or AK...but up here in the PR of IL, no place to shoot it.
Most likely gonna get a Marlin 1894C .357 lever gun, have been looking at a SIG too. So far I have been steering clear of the dark side..though I may rent one next time just to see if they do anything for me. Don't have any plastic guns...all heavy metal so far....but one never knows...enjoy....be safe...mack

Well, the first purchase is in the bag.......an Imbel receivered STG58a.....

If we end up getting the WVa land I'll have to come up with a carry gun....I'm not sure I want to schlep around a full-sized USP while clearing brush on mountain land......

First planned: hasn't happened yet, but I plan to pick up a WASR-10 with bayo lug and angle muzzle comp at the show in Charlotte next weekend.

First actual: VZ-52/57 I picked up at the SC Arms Collectors show here in Columbia last month.

For me it's already happened. I purchased a new to me, Glock 22. Then I went and bought the 9mm conversion bbl for it. Nice! :) My second planned purchase will be a S&W 500 in the 4" bbl.

I have trouble accessing Ruger's site as of late. Site commonly visited are Colt, Glock, Kimber, Ruger, S&W, & Taurus .. I do want something in a 2" or 2 1/2" bbl max, non mag +P performance line, yet inexpensive ($350 or less) without sacrificing quality - Revolver Only!
