With the shutdown of TFL, SWAT Magazine has taken advantage of an invitation from Tactical Forums to open up a new home on their site.
Denny and I will be moderating and we welcome all your feedback, questions and suggestions for SWAT Mag.

Rob, here's some feedback.
Walking down to the sushi bar for lunch and swing on in the newstand for a copy of SWAT to go with the unagi. Flip to page 50 for the mall ninja Olympics and what do I find? Brent Wheat looking untactical! Unacceptable.
Just compare him to the rest of you. Denny's sqare-jaw, Flint's "you-owe-me-money" steely-eyed stare, et al and then Brent. Look at him, a smile. He looks like the Tactical Good Humor ninja.
This untacticalness is embarrassing. Next time, tell him he's buying dinner and he'll look a lot more angry and upset.

The smile was because Brent outshot the rest of us on the last stage. Flint's glare is because he shot on my target. 'Course I need all the help I can get:uhoh:

Rob, seriously (no, really, I can be serious), the magazine looks really tight. 2 skuls reviewed, new gear, USMC interview, SFPD DDDs, and heavy hitter writers and up and comers. Well-balanced with no filler (revolver vs. auto, 9mm v. .45, imaginary goats, personality interviews, etc.). Great job, keep it coming.

KS, My ultimate tactical coolness was sitting just to the left of Denny in that picture of them on the line. That is my FALs muzzle pointing out past his face.
You know why they had those looks on their faces?
It was a stage that required us to sit, and then be prone for about 30 minutes in the Las Vegas sun and wind.
Denny has that steely eyed look because he shot a really pretty group into the dirt directly over the target. (you should have seen the look on his face when he got off the line and said, wait a second, what was I zeroed for?)
Flint helped Denny out though by putting a bunch of his shots onto Denny's target. Hey man, that is what family is for. :)
Rob was still tactically glaring because he was still mad at his Aimpoint from the last stage. (he chucked a good 20 feed if I recall correctly).
Brent was smiling because he is a sniper by trade. He is used to sitting in the sun for long periods of time in the heat. He was just glad that there weren't any biting insects.
Plus I provided the guys tons of entertainment on that stage as I became the world's fastest malfunction clearing champion. Yep, me and my manually operated semi auto rifle. Combine that with plenty of yelling at my broken rifle and it was an interesting stage. :D

TARUT--Things Are Really Un-Tactical! Or, Tango Uniform--Tactically Unacceptable!
Cor, thanks for the backstory. I vaguely remember some mention of this in his column, but I don't think he went into details. Now I know. All of this sounds like a typical day at the range for El Tejon.:(

Speaking of which, I noticed that the article on SFPDs tac team mentions that they are ardent devotees of iron sights only and yet the pictures show both of the AR15 guys with optical sights (an OEG and ACOG I believe). What happened there?

What problem did the Aimpoint have?
Thanks

Why did yall choose TF?
They have way too few of viewers over there(just over 3000) and if you don't post somthing that the "experts" over there want to talk about then your thread gets locked.

1911 asks a good question. Considering how many TFL refugees are on this board, why not a SWAT Magazine forum here?

During the stage when TFL was closing and Oleg was starting THR, things were, shall we say, turbulent. Mad Dog offered S.W.A.T. a forum at Tactical Forums and we accepted. No slight intended towards anyone, that's just the way things worked out.

Denny, in my humble opinion I think SWAT would do good explore their options. I don’t see much new activity over there. Same folks griping about the same stuff. Generally its not a very pleasant atmosphere over there.
They show over 3000 members but I bet the actual # of posters is in the low hundreds. My best guess is that over half of them got locked out and the other half just left in disgust.

I just went over there and the only SWAT thread to got any real hits was the welcome page.(just over 30 hits). Most of the other post where answered by the same guys.
No traffic!

Feh, I mean how tactical is the "high road." Everyone at TF knows that you stay off the high road on the ridgeline just like they were taught in the Selous Scouts.:D

1911,
Did you ever monitor how much traffic was on the S.W.A.T. forum on TFL? Perhaps the S.W.A.T. forum at TF will bring some more traffic in.
What problems do you have with things over there?

Jeff,
No I did not monitor the traffic over on TFL because SWAT was right at home there!
Problems over at TF? Where do I start. But remember you asked!
Ok, you can’t talk about anyone that Mad Dog has had a bad business run in with.
Example: Gabe Saurez,Steve Tarini, Steve Morrison, Igantius Piazza,Tacpro and list goes on and on.I am beginning to think these folks are a bunch of magnets for feces.
Then there are the Special Forces sections over there that you can’t talk about anything remotely associated with Special Forces or someone might have to kill you mentality.I have seen a bunch of threads get locked up and members get booted all because they are discussing things that are in open sources. Threads even get locked just because the poster doesn’t agree with Mad Dog or the “Experts” over there.
But the one that gets me the most is when a new member comes in and post a question that has already been asked before and then that new member gets slammed real quick and told to use the search function. I am sure a bunch of good posters have gone to other boards just because of that mentality. Its very un-professional.
The strangest thing is that Kevin Is a very gifted Knife builder.I don’t see why he feels the need with his “great backlog” of knife orders why he goes off on projects that he never finishes.I have been hearing for years about how he is going to revolutionize the gun industry with his greatest latest Rifle, shotgun, gunstock, belt, and gun grips and never delivers even when there seams to be a great interest in what he does.

1911,
The SWAT forum over at TF has about the same amount of traffic it did on TFL, maybe just a little less.
One thing you need to remember is that it's Mad Dog's forum. His rules. If he doesn't want discussion on certain issues, then they aren't talked about. It's just that simple.
Mad Dog has his ideas about how TF should be just like Rich had an idea of how he wanted an online forum to be when he started TFL. TF isn't meant to have tens of thousands of members....it's more like a place for professionals to get together and exchange ideas and talk.
There are people in the Special Forces Forums who are the real deal. They don't want to get into a lot of things even if they are in the public domain. The military has been known to lift articles out of news magazines and classify them. I know it sounds dumb, but it's the way things are. So if something gets shut down, even if it's information that is in the public domain, it's probably because that same information would be considered classified by virtue of those guys talking about it. Ask Dennis or anyone else who's worked in the intelligence field. Go to the newstand and buy a Time or Newsweek, read all about an operation in Afghanistan. Now clip that article, put it in military hands and suddenly it's SECRET NOFORN. That's why those guys often can't talk about soemthing that's out there in open sources.
As for getting told to use the search function, it happens mostly in DOCGKR's forum. Think about it for a minute....Doc would spend all of his time answering the same questions about .45 or 9mm ammo for everyone who surfed in. I don't think it's unprofessional, I think it's necessary so that things can move along.
There is a lot to learn over there. It is different then any other forum I know of. But that's the way Kevin wants it to be. I think SWAT is a good addition over there.
All in all, I don't think that there is an elitist attitude there. Perhaps less tolerance for BS then most places online, but it's not elitist. You canget the straight answers directly from some of the top people in their field there. TF is unique on the web in that respect.
Hope you come over and visit more...

1911-
I can understand why you might have the feelings you do about TF. But as Jeff said, it's Kevin's web site. I moderate there & here, there are different rules at both places. It works fine, since they are different sites.
That said, check your PM's.
Erick
...Well, so much for that, you have neither -email or PM's. Contact me please.
