Hey guys,
I'm wondering how one would go about finding a coach/mentor for highpower. I'm still having fun out there. But I'd like to get serious about improving and need some help.

PM Atek3- he's over in the east bay and he shoots high power regularly. If he can't help you he can probably point you in the right direction.

Where do you shoot at? We've got a pretty good match at www.zouaves.org in south San Jose.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the late reply. Lost track of this thread. Thanks for the suggestion I'll pm Atek.
Ty I shoot at Chabot. formats just a little different from Zouaves. Chabot 20 shots offhand, 10 prone slowfire. I've been thinking about going to a Zouaves match. The no pits thing is a little confusing, how do you guys score the slow fire rounds?

We shoot unlimited sighters in 5 min at the beginning of the match then no other sighters. It's a 50 round match with 20 rounds slow prone. You shoot the string, then the opposite relay runs down, swaps out the targets, then scores them behind the firing line.
As far as Chabot regulars, I know Joel posts some pretty good scores, and doesn't Jim O'Connell shoot there? Jim is always extremely helpful.
There is a full course match at Coalinga on the 3rd Sunday that you should definitely try to make--get you in contact w/ more shooters. Zouaves usually has a contingient of 3-5 guys that drive down Sat afternoon after the San Jose match and camp out there.

The one NRA Rifle Instructor that I know of at Zouaves (master class) hasn't been around much. What kinda scores are you posting and where are you looking to improve?

I'm just really inconsistent. Every match it seems in one stage I'll score a new high, while getting a new low score in another. Having no idea what I did differently. I should definitely be practicing a lot more. But just looking for someone to point out what might be wrong with technique and what/how I should be practicing.
When I first started going to the matches everyone was really helpful. But now that I know the basics. I'm not sure who to ask or even what to ask for more specific help.

Join a club dude.
I'm with both the Zouaves and the SCVRC, with more participation in the latter than the former. Both clubs have great expert shooters, and they won't hesitate to coach along a newbie.
