Do any of you look at your guns

Past or present and just relish the fact that you have that tec 9 (or AB10 in my case) or that pre-ban gun that you bought before the ban, and then get that upper for your AR 15 that was banned and now legal?
Do you buy "for leo and military use only" mags, just because you can?
I will admit, that I am loving this end to the ban. My mags have gone down in price, I got my upper for the AR that has the bayonet lug and the flash surpressor on it, screw off, not perm. attached go figure.
Things that I took for granted before the ban, yes, I was around before 1994.
I think that it's great. I get my standard mags again, I get an upper that has the evil bayonet lug as well as a flash surpressure. Pistol grip and 20 to 50 rd mags, depending on the upper that I use.
And I'm thinking on putting on a telescopic butt/stock.
And, you know, from seeing the 5.56 round again, I have to ask, why the hell am I using a .22? I'd forgotten what the round was. Sniper high powered bullet (from the malvo and such trials)... what a crock of feces. Damn, I forgot how little they were.

I only have a shotgun, but I appreciate the fact that I have the right to own it :D

Other than range time, cleaning & checking, I look at my guns:
Whenever I wonder, "Where did all my money go?"
When I see some new doodad that fits on a picatinny rail.
When I think, "I have one of those" while watching a movie or TV show.
Whenever I'm asked, "If you can have only oneā¦" and never being able to come up with an answer.
When yet another piece of anti-gun legislation comes up.
Sometimes just because I can.

Of course! A picture of one of my guns is always the "homepage" for my web browser.

Individually , yes ; often but collectively , no . I enjoy looking at the craftsmanship and design of any machine and I tend to gravitiate towards guns that were designed with an aesthetic appeal and not just for function . That does tend to make me have odd tastes though , for example I love the Beretta 9000's aesthetics and how it is styled to be in the tradition of their guns but is also meant to go beyond the usual geometic shapes into an organic form . Of course , many people hate that and say it looks like a shoe :) I love the lines of a Browning HP , that's just classy design and I can stare at a bright blue one for minutes soaking it up , the same with a PPK or SIG 230 . I can also appreciate the raw edges of Com Bloc design with function leading form by a mile : looking at a Kalashnikov or Makarov or CZ52 , it's apparent that it was built by hand and the mill marks and imperfections give it character while something like my SIG's and STI seem almost antiseptic and almost too perfect so I am conflicted as to whether perfection or charming flaws are better , then I end up with 2 dozen guns on the bed compaing their relative merits and that starts to freak me out that I'm a little too into them - lol .
The bigger reason I can't stand to look at them all is that I'm a spendthrift by nature and if I start thinking of them in terms of initial purchase price , then I'll think of what I spent on grips and sights and then how much it's cost to feed them and then compare that to a year of college tuition or a car and it just becomes too much and I start thinking of < gasp > maybe even selling one and that just won't do !

The whole time the ban was in place I thought it was absurd. It really hit me HOW absurd it was when one of my buddies was over.
It was about 6 months prior to the sunset. We were sitting around BSing, and the subject of the AWB came up. He's not a gun guy, and had only been shooting for the first time about a month earlier. We went with pistols only to a local indoor range. So at this point the guy knows nothing about rifles, AWs, FA, SA, the AWB, etc. I start to explain it to him. He sat there with a puzzled look on his face and then asked, "well, what good is the ban?"
Naturally, since I didn't have a good answer for him, he thought maybe he misunderstood the concept of the ban. Luckily, I happened to have both pre-ban and post-ban visual aids sitting around. :D
I showed him 2 ARs, one pre and one post, both were identical except for the lug and suppressor. Instead of a suppressor, I had a post-ban legal muzzle brake permanently attached, so the only thing really different was the lug. He was really puzzled at that point, and asked what the difference between the suppressor and the brake was. I tried to explain it, and his only response was, "well, isn't the brake better to have, anyway?" I said yes, but it didn't have an evil name, so it was banned. For the life of the poor guy, he couldn't figure out the point of banning the bayonet lug.
Anyway, it was interesting to get feedback from someone who isn't interested in guns, and doesn't care about them one way or another. When they have the AWB truely explained to them, you get to see the looks on their faces.
