Saw an interesting shotgun today...

I dropped in to my local dealer, and he said "Here - this just came in", and tossed me a 12ga. coach gun with external hammers. Turned out to be a Spanish gun (Lanber, I think), with original 18½" barrels, choked IC and Full.

I did a fairly detailed inspection on it, and noticed that both barrels showed a funny black mark, each on the inside of the tube where it lay against the rib. Closer inspection showed that at that point, some idiot had drilled a hole in the bottom of the rib to take a sling mount, and had screwed the sling mount into the rib "as is". This had put a mild bulge into each barrel where it bore against that part of the rib!

My dealer wasn't happy when I showed him this... he hadn't noticed it, and was looking to sell me the gun for a decent price. Now he's stuck with it unless and until he can fix it (doubtful), or can sell it with a warning to NEVER fire slugs through it.

I'd be almost tempted. I'm starting to get real fond of those Spanish doubles.

Are you kidding? A few slugs fired will fix those little bumps right up!
