Why Can't we search for terms with 2 characters?

If I want to search for the term "CZ", I can't because it says the minimum number of characters is 3.

Why is that? Can it be changed?

It would create a search list of gargantuan size instead of the merely enormous size list we have now. And perhaps more importantly, it would take considerably more cycles from the server for such searches.
