A 45-year-old man was shot in the backside early Thursday morning after he broke into another man's Doe Street home, according to a Greenville Police spokesman.
Lt. Mike Gambrell said officers responded to 46 Doe St. about 12:30 a.m. today and found a man lying in the fetal position on the front porch. He had been shot in the buttocks, he said.
The homeowner told police that he was investigating a noise he heard in his living room when he saw a man jump up near the stove. The homeowner told police he fired as the intruder tried to jump out a window, Gambrell said.
The wounded man is in the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, Gambrell said. Charges are pending, he said.
