Hey guys,

Question. I'm looking to get an autoloader for SC and I just found out that a friend has both, the Silver Mallard used and the 11-87 brand new. We've not discussed money just yet, however, that aside, I feel like it's a toss up.

Which would you go for? Thanks.

The BERETTA 390 is the best semi-auto shotgun I have ever fired....period. I have around 150k round through a 390, and its still going strong. Easy to maintain....rugged internal parts[no synthetic rings!]. The stock features a user adjustable shim system that will aloow you to "fit" the gun to the shooter.

Get the 390 and don't look back!

for SC, the 390 no doubt...the 1187 tends not to hold up under heavy shooting.

The Beretta is many times more gun than the 11-87. Buy the Beretta.

Oi.... Pretty overwhelming in Beretta's favor, I must say. Thanks, guys. The Beretta it is then.

What is the difference between a Beretta 390 and 391, or are they the same thing?

I am also looking for an autoloader for skeet/trap/sc. Is there a particular version or sub-model of the Beretta autoloader that is better suited for this than the others.

391 is the updated version of the 390. They have competition 391 models. Try this link http://www.beretta.com/home_2002.asp

I got a 391 field, put a second bead on it, and use a strap on comb raising kit for trap because I needed an all-purpose gun. It works fine as I am just getting into shotgunning.

JohnRov, thanks for the link.

What length barrel do you (or anyone else that can answer) recommend for this gun for skeet/trap/sc use but, no hunting? Is barrel length really a big deal?

I have a 28" because it seemed best for multi-purpose use. The trap guys all have longer barrels on their guns but I don't know if that is good for skeet or SCs. Hopefully others here will jump in and answer that for you.

I believe that the quality differences, especially as it pertains to heavy clay target use, between the Remmy 11xx and the Berettas is a bit overstated at times.

That being said, there is still some substantial element of truth to this, in my experience. I would go with the Beretta. The 390 is a wonderful shotgun.

I've shot the past 2 seasons with a 390 "sporting" model. Skeet and SC. Function has been flawless. It has also done some pheasant busting.
Great shotgun.
