If all goes well, Part of my income tax returns will be used on two Springfield XD9's. One in 4" and one in compact 3" for the mrs. Both will be used for our CCW training and as EDC's.
These will probably be the only handguns purchased this year. All other funds will be used on training, range fees and ammo.

On a wish list for 2005 thread I posted I want a Marlin 1894C and a Colt Commander. I just found out that the outdoor range here in town closed for good over the holidays--liability issues, I guess the insurance got too expensive for the return he got on shooters using it.
Too bad, as all I have to use now are indoor ranges about an hour away in Raleigh. That sort of takes the wind out of my sails for a lever rifle, so I suppose the 1911 will be next. Of course, my son wants me to get a SIG P220 instead of a 1911, but until he puts up the cash I get to decide what is bought!

Wherever I find the deal in my big list of "to buy" guns. It has been looking to be a Witness 10mm but rumors are floating about that a CZ 97B in 10mm might be in the works. So, I'm in no rush.
Other posibilities: CZ 75B SA in 40 S&W, CZ 75B SP-01, CZ 97B, Witness 10mm or 45 ACP, Baby Eagle in .45 ACP, a 9mm snubby revo, CZ 75B Compact, S&W 610, S&W model 25 or varient, Witness Elite Limited in 10mm, HK full size or bigger (read USP full size or Mk 23 Mod 0 ;) ) 45 ACP.
Hmm, maybe a pocket pistol or another snubby to. See what deals I can find :)

I got tired of trying to comfortably carry either my 1911 or Ruger P89 so Saturday I found a Taurus PT145 Millenium Pro that was calling my name.
I had shot a few hundred rounds from a friends PT145 and I was suprised how accurate it was for a small barrel and I didn't have any problems with it. No failures of any kind with a mix of bullet weights and types. For having a 10-round double-stack mag, I found it nice that the width of the grip is only about 1 1/8"!!

Excellent choice. Very accurate CZ. I might suggest a stronder recoil spring, like something in the 20lb to 22lb range from Wolff Gunsprings. If you decide to get one, you will want to order one for the full-size CZ 75B. You will need to trim a few coils off one end for it to work. I took off 4 which is about average for those who have replaced recoils springs.
As for me, my next purchase will be the CZ 75 Compact .40.

I couldn't wait till the end of the week, so I went down to my dealer and picked it up today. I already ordered a couple of the stainless rods from MSC to replace the guide rod (in case I screw one up) and I'll be ordering my new recoil spring sometime this week.

most of them costing about half as much as a normal gun some as much. My first real gun this year will be a polymar framed Ruger 9mm auto with 2 10 round magazines. (the seller is keeping the 15 rounder that origionally came with the gun but giving me an additional 10 rounder to make up for it. (Since the AWB is history and I can buy all the 15 or even 32 round magazines I want I am OK with that). Last years only firearm purchaces were the airweight bodyfuard and a 6.5" custom barrel for my contender in 9mm. (I like to buy the inexpensive 9mm from walMart so its a cheap to shoot caliber thus the new guns in that caliber{9mm}).

Well I finally did it. After looking for just the right compact .45acp to back up my primary .45acp weapons I finally made my first purchase for 2005. I had gone to San Antonio to see my son who attends college there and stopped by Academy Sporting Goods to look an any new guns that were available. I picked up one that I have been looking at possibly buying and the one I was holding had a chrome slide. I don't want a chrome slide in my BUG. I overheard someone mention a pretty good size gunshow in town this weekend at the Shriners Temple. I went there and what a great show for being in such a small place. I found what I was looking for....a Taurus PT145 Millineum Pro in all black. I have been reading the forums, talking to TMP owners and asking at my local gunstores as to their quality. I have heard good and bad.....as I have about my SIG's, Springfield Armouries, Para Ordnances and Kel-Tec P11 as well. Well the gun, brand new was laying there calling to me at $275.00. This was $75.00 cheaper than anywhere else I have seen this gun and the dealer threw in an extra 10 rd mag at no extra cost. God I love plastic.....I am refering to my credit card!!! So off I go to the range next week to burn her in and test her for reliability before replacing the Kel-Tec with her for pocket carry in my office, and as my BUG at other times.
